A reminder of how we used to own the open space, windows down, keys in the ignition, leaving the engine running, the open space was not a hostile environment that we had to pass through in-between safe places, like work and home.

In Omaha, if I’m filling one of our vehicles and by myself, the keys come out of the ignition and I’m typically armed. If you have the keys, you can throw them away from you.

I always pump gas with a lit cigarette. That way people always give me wide berth.

The democrats have lived in the stench of the DC cesspool for so long they do not know what fresh air smells like. They are unnerved by the safety now there and wish to return to their cesspool environment.

I don’t live anywhere near a big crime-ridden city, and I’ve never left my car door open or unlocked while pumping gas. I’ve always taken precautions when it comes to being secure in and out of my car. I had a 25 year career in uniform with NY State’s prison system where safety, security, and key control was a part of life every day. And it carried over into the 22 years I’ve been retired.

I too never leave the key in when gassing up. Just seemsright, though jackings are mostly unheard of on this island.

"I too never leave the key in when gassing up. Just seemsright, though jackings are mostly unheard of on this island."

Better safe than sorry.

I just mailed a letter to Nissan about issues I have with their locking systems. I'm on my third lease with them. I've owned Nissans in the past, and had very good luck with them. The 2005 Altima I owned allowed me to lock the car while it was still open before getting into the car and closing the door. The car was not running. This kept me from being vulnerable on the passenger side, no matter where I was.

The last two Nissan's I've leased won't let me do that anymore. As soon as I hit the button to lock the car while the door's open, the lock pops back open. The other issue I have is that every time I'm sitting in a drive-thru line, and I put the car in park so I don't have to keep my foot on the break, the door unlocks. I immediately lock it again, but when I move up in the line, and put it in park again, the door unlocks, and so I lock it again. It's a pain in the arse.

Jerks who like blocking access to the pump ahead or block you from getting out from behind them.
