I too never leave the key in when gassing up. Just seemsright, though jackings are mostly unheard of on this island.

Better safe than sorry.

I just mailed a letter to Nissan about issues I have with their locking systems. I'm on my third lease with them. I've owned Nissans in the past, and had very good luck with them. The 2005 Altima I owned allowed me to lock the car while it was still open before getting into the car and closing the door. The car was not running. This kept me from being vulnerable on the passenger side, no matter where I was.

The last two Nissan's I've leased won't let me do that anymore. As soon as I hit the button to lock the car while the door's open, the lock pops back open. The other issue I have is that every time I'm sitting in a drive-thru line, and I put the car in park so I don't have to keep my foot on the break, the door unlocks. I immediately lock it again, but when I move up in the line, and put it in park again, the door unlocks, and so I lock it again. It's a pain in the arse.
