Cracker Barrel in freefall as brand's woke makeover likened to Dylan Mulvaney Bud Light fiasco

Cracker Barrel's new logo has sparked a social media firestorm, with many comparing the restaurant chain's rebrand to Bud Light's infamous Dylan Mulvaney campaign.

Memes featuring Mulvaney alongside the 'new' Cracker Barrel logo have gone viral on X since the chain revealed its redesign Tuesday.

Some show the transgender influencer in mocked-up Cracker Barrel staff uniforms, while others recycle images from her 2023 Bud Light promotion — swapping beer cans for the barrels dropped from the logo.

That now-infamous campaign triggered a boycott of Bud LIght that cost parent company Anheuser-Busch more than $1 billion in sales.

Now critics warn Cracker Barrel could face the same fate. On Thursday alone, the company shed nearly $100 million in market value.

'Go Woke, Go Broke. The biggest blunder since the Bud Light/Dylan Mulvaney fiasco. They might as well declare bankruptcy right now and save some time,' an X user wrote.

The redesign — the chain’s first in 48 years — removes the iconic old man leaning on a barrel as well as the pinto bean shape behind the name, a nod to one of the original side dishes offered when Cracker Barrel opened in 1969.

Critics say the changes stripped away the brand’s character and charm. The rebrand comes as the company overhauls its 650 restaurants nationwide, swapping rustic southern-style interiors for a modern look.

That shift, too, has sparked backlash, with customers complaining the chain is 'just turning into any other restaurant.'

The chain’s name itself comes from barrels once used to deliver crackers to country stores, which later doubled as makeshift tables for community gatherings.

'This rebrand says nothing about history or tradition and everything about marketing consultants making quick money,' one Reddit user wrote.

Cracker Barrel's stocks were down again today. Yea I'd say either this woke CEO reverse this before Monday or else this restaurant will be history by Thanksgiving.

Lesson for a lot of people. Leave well enough alone. If it aint broken dont fix it. In this case...if it aint broken, fix it till it is.

I said it already today and I’ll say it again besides being mentally ill I’m convinced the left are all mental retards. Yes they should have expected this.

Unless they really wanted to destroy this company they should have expected this.

This is not a failure. The woke goal is to corrupt OR destroy anything traditional or moral. Destruction is an acceptable outcome.

Dylan, there may be an opening for a bright young man as yourself to take the lead as the new logo of Cracker Barrel./S

I’m more convinced that there is a segment in the US that revels in doing this type of thing.

We we enjoyed going once in a great while, I just had a little family gathering at a local one. Hubby likes to browse the shop and get candy. I’ve always liked it because it has some of that old world charm and had no idea they were going woke. Who needs another modern restaurant? Boring blah. Most all of the family style usually greek-owned restaurants that were the main stays around here have gone. Now there’s niche places offering Sushi or other ethnic foods I’ve never heard of. 🫤

Didn’t there used to be a thing where you’d get to know your customer base.

It’s not only the logo that was changed. They have begun to change the interior design of the stores. Gone is the heavy, country-style wood and the kitsch on the walls.

Now its pastels and stylized pictures of farm animals.

I can’t stand the new Cracker Barrel look, and I think the CEO is an idiot, but in terms of being broke, I think the company might have some issues before this.

The company has dumped 60% of it stock value in the last five years, and the CEO hasn’t been on board since November 2023.

So something does need to get fixed somewhere, because they are losing market chair and have been for a while now. The thing is what they’ve just done certainly isn’t it

It has rebounded and gained about half of its free fall over the past couple of days.

This is just a price correction on a stock that was over bought. CBRL is up 33% over the past 12 months, even after a bad sell-off this week. That’s twice as good as the S&P 500.

Lotta Cracker Barrels here in Alabama. Every single one will get shunned by pretty much everyone here now. If someone opened a Southern Barrel chain for the entire SE and did it “raght”, I’d go eat there!

Don’t understand this one. What is woke about the new logo? This doesn’t seem anywhere near the Dylan Mulvany thing.

Thank you.

It is not stupidity. It is a goal! I wish our side would stop calling them stupid.
