My Socialist Mayor Part 2
The Daily Signal ^ | 17 Aug, 2025 | John Stossel

The socialist politicians are coming!

In Minneapolis, democratic socialist Omar Fateh is favored to be Minneapolis’ next mayor.

In New York City, bettors say there’s an 80% chance that socialist Zohran Mamdani will be the next mayor.

“We have to continue to elect more socialists, and we have to ensure we are unapologetic about our socialism,” says Mamdani.

But he should be apologetic! Socialism wrecks lives.

My last column/video covered some of Mamdani’s bad ideas, but he has so many, I needed part II:

Mamdani promises buses “fast and free for every New Yorker.”

Free would be nice, if the city could afford it. It can’t.

And it’s a peculiar proposal from a man who complains about what government does now: “These are the slowest buses in the country!”

Will they move faster when they’re free?

Public transport is a good example of socialist confusion about what makes things work.

I ask people, “Who do you think built New York’s subways?” Most say: “the government.”

Who else could afford to dig tunnels and buy trains so everyone, rich and poor, can ride? Private businesses wouldn’t do it. They wouldn’t be able to charge enough to cover their costs. That’s why government must do it!

But actually, private companies built most of New York’s subways. The trains only became government-run after 1939, when the capitalists proposed raising the fare from 5 to 7 cents.

NYC’s mayor called that “a grab for the public’s pocket” and took control.

He promised they wouldn’t raise the fare.

But within a few years, the fare was 10 cents. Now it’s $2.90.

And when NYC tries to build new subways, they struggle to get it done.

One train line was supposed to be finished in 1938. Then they said 1980. Today, it’s still not done,

I hope Zoltar loses, but I don’t see that happening. NYC is determined to be a cautionary tale.

NYC is determined to be a cautionary tale.

Again.

It shows the kind of damage public education can do.

Politics follow culture. It's just how things are.

“We can’t afford not to”
-Jesse Jackson.

Just outlaw socialism. There will come a time when our leaders are weaker than they have been, probably as soon as Trump leaves office. 100% school choice can’t come soon enough. A one year voucher is like an election. They’ll tell you what you want to year then they’ll do something different. Parents will be stuck for one year just like we were stuck with Biden’s crew for 4.

The problem is that not only are Mamdani and Fateh Socialists, they are Muslim. Zardoz must be stopped by the sane New Yorkers, if there are any left.

I prefer Zardoz. There was an interesting movie called Zardoz, which is a contraction of “The Wizard of Oz”, starring Sean Connery. Mamdani has similar traits to ‘Zardoz’, with an extra helping of Muslim theology.

“Socialism wrecks lives.”

Younger, entitled, indoctrinated, Americans don’t know this. They want, and believe it’s government’s job, to care for their needs.

Those young Americans are about to get what they think they want.

LOL. We don’t know what he wears behind closed doors. He might wear a ‘goat’ outfit to be more attractive to his goat friends.

The results of a disastrous Mamdani mayorship will be a cautionary tale for use in the the 2028 POTUS election. Minneapolis is about to elect same. Results will be same. Tax base in both cities will flee as the new socialist mayors look to tax the "Whiter parts of their cities" (Momdani has stated exactly this).

Mamdani is nothing but a construct, a creation by someone, often they don’t even use their real names, I dont know much about this tool. Seems like one could blink and there would be another waiting to assume some Mayor role in a large city, they mostly just want the pulpit, loudspeaker and bullhorn to spew their Marxist evil from, not so much about helping citizens.

Just like a Beto, AOC or Obama. Where nothing about them is actually real, its all an invented narrative and where the MSM will play along to cover and smooth out the gaps or holes in their phony presentations.

The truly sad part is we are on the verge of an age of production unrivaled in human history. What is holding us back are socialist wackos and the willing idiots who vote for them. They will give us a dead planet right before we can finally expand off of it!
