A man diagnosed with schizophrenia — who also has a violent past — was seen abducting a 3-year-old girl in a Virginia mall before he was stopped by the tot’s mother, disturbing video shows.
Andres Caceres Jaldin, 26, was captured on surveillance camera snatching the toddler in his arms and walking away with her after she wandered away from an indoor play area at the Fair Oaks Shopping Center on July 18, security footage shared by the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office shows.
Her panicked father had been watching his daughter and called his wife, who was shopping at the JCPenney nearby.
Luckily, she spotted Jaldin carrying the youngster on the second floor of the store and confronted him, according to court records obtained by NBC Washington.
Jaldin handed over the child without incident and claimed he was only trying to help the girl find her parents, according to the criminal complaint.
He then fled the shopping center in a car he had stolen from a local auto shop just before allegedly kidnapping the girl.
Police tracked the vehicle to a hotel in nearby Chantilly, where Jaldin was arrested.
The accused kidnapper has a checkered past with a history of violent assaults on his family members, court records show.

AND YOU CAN THANK BLEEDING HEART LIBERALS FOR THE DEMISE OF INSTITUTIONS WHERE THESE KINDS OF PEOPLE OUGHT TO BE.
Dad was most likely on his phone and not paying attention.
A fine victory for law & order. Now..with the the right court & judge he will get his hands slapped & sent home.
Right! Idiot!!!

Well, looks like a top candidate for the insane asylums that President Trump wants to reopen.
Probably at the nearest Panda Express “conducting surveillance”.
The Dad was calling his wife , because he thought maybe the little girl had gone into Penny’s store, and was now safe shopping with her Mom . It only proves that he wasn’t watching her too closely. 3 year old kids can move around very quickly, and very quietly, since they are so small.
They did for many years. However it wa also recognized that institutionalization was necessary.
I once saw a child on a leash with the parent, which I thought was horrible. However, it may be a safety issue in today’s malls.
Modern journalism requires guesswork. I’m going with: Daddy wasn’t “watching” the child worth beans, and didn’t witness the abduction. When he got done with whatever he was up to and noticed his daughter wasn’t in the play area, he called the wife to ask “is she with you?”. That might have been a good choice, since if he stayed on the phone for ten minutes reporting it to mall security or the police, his wife might not have spotted the kidnapper.
My first thoughts were, “What special land sent him to us? How can we thank them?
You can bring a case without cooperative witnesses.
Dad was supposed to be watching his daughter in the enclosed play area. What kind of father allows a 3 year old to wander off into the mall?
Don’t blame the mall cop. Blame the father who allows a 3 year old to wander away and he never even noticed.
