It was the send off that Ozzy Osbourne had hoped for, if some time before he and his loved ones expected.
The Black Sabbath star died today aged 76, surrounded by his wife Sharon and their children after a battle with Parkinson's.
A heartbreaking statement released by the family said: 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
'He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.'
Sources close to the family say that his passing was 'unexpected to be this soon' but that his children were so grateful to have been around him in his last days after he performed his final gig just over two weeks ago.
Heavy metal hellraiser Ozzy, known to legions of fans as The Prince of Darkness, passed away at the Buckinghamshire mansion where his wife Sharon - a former X Factor judge - had spent at least two years preparing for his final moments.
The Mail can also reveal that daughters Aimee, 41, and Kelly, 40, were there to care for him as recently as last week after flying in from Los Angeles.
Son Jack, 39, also had flown from his home in Idaho to watch his beloved father at his last concert at Aston Villa's stadium Villa Park on July 5.

I’m sorry but the title “Prince of Darkness” already belongs to the late Joseph Lucas of British automobile infamy.
That said, rest in peace Ozzy.
I saw him at the Texas Jam in 1982. I was not a big fan. I remember he was shirtless and had a lot of tats.
De mortuis nil nisi bonum dicendum est.
Favete linguis!
Ha , Van Halen opened for Sabbath at the Cape Cod Coliseum in 78 , general admission ....GREAT Concert and was also my first!
I heard that VH basically blew Sabbath off the stage.
Sharon asks for privacy....

You know when tragedy strikes, we (comedians) have the jokes immediately, ready to go. We can’t say them, or we’ll be crucified... but we got ‘em. We got the jokes.
They’re coming Sharon. You’ll be in them too sweetie pie.
He was dianosed with Parkinson’s in 2019.

........
So true.
Osborn was a piker compared to Lucas.
Haha! Thanks for the laugh 👍
That would have been a great show!!!
The first six Sabbath albums are pretty prefect.
RIP OZZY

Not in a thousand Light Years, could I EVER imagine having a conversation with my Mother, like Jack did on that video with Sharon, a face to face ‘chat’ about his parents’ suicide intentions, plans and rationale.
This, in front of rolling cameras and camera crew (meaning people from outside of the immediate family)! No boundaries! No social guard rails whatsoever!
I don’t think it was assisted suicide. I saw in his last interview that he had found the Lord and repented.
I don’t think that’s what happened, Parkinson’s is bad, but it’s not dementia.
Unfortunately for him, he’s in a place where all the bullshit falls to the floor, with the Resurrected One presiding.
We dont know what happened but sharon revealed their discussions years ago about assisted suicide when facing dementia. I could see Ozzy wanting to be taken out when facing Parkinsons which is yet another hopeless situation.
Ozzy was in decent shape a few weeks ago. But who knows? Maybe we’ll learn more later. Or not.
There was a Dracula movie with Christopher Lee.
Ozzy would have laughed at that. I know I did (Former MG owner).
