Golden State Warriors guard Buddy Hield was not entertained when he visited the Colosseum in Rome.
Hield was at an NBA Summer League game to watch the young players on the Warriors’ roster take on the Utah Jazz on Sunday night. The Warriors won the game 103-93, but it was Hield’s comments on his trip to Italy that caught the attention of the internet.
"I was a little disappointed when I went to the Colosseum because I watched ‘Gladiator’ and I thought Maximus was a real warrior," he explained on the ESPN broadcast. "So, I’m going into the Colosseum screaming, ‘Maximus!’ My tour guide said he’s not real."
"Gladiator" was released in 2000 and won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound and Best Costume Design. It earned more than $465 million at the box office.

Some folks think every movie is a documentary. :-)
This guy is gonna get some crap the next time he walks into the locker room.
Barney Rubble was a great actor.
Buddy Hield is a good guy. Teammates love him.
Covid vax wasn’t a real vax
“I watched ‘Gladiator’ and I thought Maximus was a real warrior,”
Good grief......he related to Hank Johnson perhaps?
This is a great example of a lot of athletes playing sports in college is ALL they do there.
He was probably disappointed that Wakanda wasn’t real either............
“This guy is gonna get some crap the next time he walks into the locker room.”
He’s gonna wish he never hears the name Maximus again.
In the words of the “me too” movement -”but he could have been real!”
And let’s not forget our friend Corrine Brown’s insight into Freedonia. 😏
Or actors. There are people who think John Wayne was a great American because of the movies he was in.
“ Some folks think every movie is a documentary. :-)”
Well of course they are.
You are just jealous because you can’t fly like Superman.
Well I can tell you it’s amazing to do.
When I was a child, I knew ‘Gotham City’, ‘Metropolis’ and ‘Riverdale’ were not real places.
It makes me wonder what level of intelligence these people have that they would believe a Comic book or movie person was an actual person or place.............
We met her once.................
“Or actors”
Really, if you boil it down, athletes are nothing more than entertainers, just like actors, musicians etc.
They exist to distract us for a short time from the realities we deal with every day.....most of which they are too rich to have had to experience themselves.
And people are more than willing to give them their hard earned money that makes them richer and not think twice about it......that has always baffled me.
LOL! Years ago, a gay friend thought Robert Preston was gay because of the roll he played in Victor/Victoria. He was actually married to his wife for 40-some odd years. I didn’t bother to try to correct the misconception.
Probably his new nickname.
Toying with blasphemy there...
He was, listen to how he talked about our country.
He was looking for the giant scoreboard like they have in most NBA arenas,
“Where da scobode? Where da popcone vendors?”
