Re: Rounding Up...
I just say, ‘No, Thanks. I give my charity dollars through my Church.’ No one has ever given me grief over that. So far.
Yep- they were AWFUL.
My dog was scared of their blow dryer and she said if he was to come back, I needed to medicate him.
I dropped by one day to see how much just a bath was and the daughter glanced at the ‘menu’ on the wall and quoted me $20 higher than a full groom, hair cut and the works - FOR A BATH - about 20% of that more expensive service.
“lunch with several co-workers”
Last time, was in the early 1970s, an Italian restaurant, and they were ready for all 20 of us, every time. Great place, great food, great service. Men and women worked there. No DEI. Just people who love freedom and our country.
There are tip jars for the most mundane services, like I was at a convenience store and I chose what I wanted and there was a tip jar at the checkout counter. For what?? Taking my money? Then too, shouldn’t we get a discount for checking out our own stuff at a self check unit? I mean, we checked out our own stuff, not a clerk.
Tip: 25%, 30%, or 35%.
To hand you a box. No mas
I just say “not today” if asked for funds...implies I gave at some other time.
“This note is legal tender for all debts public and private”
I take that to mean that someone may choose to accept any form of payment they choose, but they MUST accept US banknotes when offered.
At a bakery near me you ask the server to put croissants or rolls into a bag, and they take the bag to the checkout. The payment device is programmed to suggest a 20 percent tip. I pay cash to avoid this. on $15 I leave a $1 tip.
A tip jar at a local store had a handwritten sign: “Help support our workers”.
Support your own damn workers!
Same here, except at the diner - I figure the waitress still has to take the order, package it up, etc., so I give 10% to make up for the tip she would have gotten had we sat down to eat. Especially if it's my local place.
I sing it every day! :)
Convenient at least that the overcharging groomer is awful all around. Your pooch is probably relieved!
We have shops where you can wash your own dog. I thought that was a smart idea. As a Farm Girl with Farm Dogs, the hose works just fine most of the year, LOL! And if you mess with a skunk, you live outside for a few weeks. ;)

They also have self-dog washing facilities at some of the Tractor Supply stores.
This might just be a Midwest Thang. I dunno. ;)
(I know you’re just complaining about that one particular groomer - and I agree!)
They have a tip option at Subway. Its ridiculous.
I had to order on my phone in LA at a restaurant, no menu, just a QR code. You had to put your card info into their website before ordering. It was dark, I couldn’t see the screen very well nor could I see very well the tiny raised numbers on my dark green card. so I use the flashlight on my phone, but then I have to switch from shining the flashlight on my card, to entering the numbers into the “flashlight/phone”, This whole process took about 10 minutes, and while I was doing it, I missed the 9 pm deadline to order food. Companies are using technology to save themselves money by making the customers do the work so they don’t have to pay employees, e.g. self checkout at grocery stores. Costco saves money because when you buy 50 rolls of paper towels, you have to store 6 months worth of paper towels at your house. The space used for this has a value, rent is $5 to $10 per square foot per month.
Yeah, as the boss drives off in his BMW.
Right there with you FRiend . I tip at my discretion, with no qualms.
My credit union automatically rounds up my charges, which goes into a separate account.
Actually it’s employers realizing that when they declare their employees tipped they can pay less. In most states, with odd regulations from place to place. But by and large, it’s just employers trying to pay less.
Country clubs often have a minimum tip rate and you can tip more for good service. If you don’t like the service, complain to the management and the problem will eventually be solved..
