I used to like Sig Sauer. They made good guns and had a good reputation.
Then the P320 rolled out, and the problems started. Even then, I didn't really hold it against them. The first problem was the guns drop firing if they landed at a particular angle. Since that was something that I could see being missed during testing. While they didn't recall the firearms, they did offer a voluntary upgrade that was supposed to fix the issue.
Sig Sauer claimed that nothing was wrong, that they'd been exonerated in court, and that it was all some anti-gun conspiracy to take down the company and our gun rights.
Since most of the people talking about it were gun people, that really bothered a lot of us, myself included.
Yet Sig claimed it just didn't happen. Guns didn't go off unless someone did something stupid.
Well, that thing they said never happens just happened again.
Ceres, CA- On June 24, 2025, at approximately 12:50 p.m., a Ceres Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO) was injured when her department-approved firearm discharged while holstered in the parking lot of Blaker-Kinser Junior High School, located at 1601 Kinser Road in Ceres. The officer involved in the incident has been identified as Officer Salin Chrim, a sworn member of the department assigned as a School Resource Officer.
At the time of the incident, summer school had concluded for the day, and only a limited number of students and staff remained on campus. Officer Chrim was not interacting with any students when the firearm discharged. Officer Chrim sustained a non-life-threatening injury to her leg and was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. No other individuals were injured.
The firearm involved in the incident was a Sig Sauer P320. holster.

I carry the M17 all day long. No problems. I also use the manual safety. Just for giggles, I dropped tested the thing at least 500 times, dropping it from all kinds of heights in all kinds of ways. Never did the striker fire. I am confident in the pistol.
I also know many people have had their various pistols go off and often the holster interferes with the trigger.

Agree wholeheartedly. I have one striker, a Browning Buckmark at a price I couldn't pass by. Other than that, everything I own is made of steel and has an external hammer. Yes, I am a Fudd, but a proud one with an absence of self-inflicted bullet holes.

I carry Glocks, always in kydex holsters, so I have no striker fear, lol.
I have a 92FS Beretta with the decocker/ssafety if I want to lug around more weight, but I’m in FL, always in shorts and light shirts.

No, I would not feel confident carrying a P320.
It’s a Glock designed by committee to meet a military spec to make it female friendly. This problem has been well documented. There are numerous cases of a person standing there doing nothing and it discharges in their holster. But most of all, it’s just an average striker fired pistol. There’s nothing about it that’s so wonderful that it’s worth running the risk over proven systems.

Bottom line, Sig is wildly overrated. You don’t see special forces using this pistol.
The Sig P320 was not designed for the military. It was designed long before. Don’t spout common tripe to me to try to sound informed.

Well, back in 1951, our drill instructor constantly warned us about “the gun”.

Neither was the Glock, but a friend’s son was in the SF in Afghanistan and carried a Glock 17 which performed flawlessly. After using it often for several weeks, he had the armor do a detailed strip and clean. While disassembling the firearm, the armorer found the firing pin broken yet it was still operating as designed. When I worked in gun shop and customers would ask me what semi firearm I thought was the best, I would tell them that there was a reason everyone who worked there carried a Glock.
One employee used to say, “If I’m going to hunt the devil, I’m carrying a Glock.”
I think the whole problem is holsters, for the most part. I have a P320 M17 and I shoot a lot. I love it, also have a P365XL that I carry everywhere.
This video has lots of issues, hand messing with the holster, backpack swinging against it, who knows?
What I do know is the Grayguns, who were probably considering the fact that as aftermarket accessories like triggers, could leave them open to liability.
They messed with them every which way, and finally got one to fire without a trigger pull. They had to install the takedown lever from a 10mm/.45 model to get it to happen, and said that you could check it by turning the lever down and attempting to insert a mag. If it goes in, it has the wrong takedwon lever.
Glock had the same crap, turned out being particular holsters that were commonly used by LEO.
Think back to the dipshit woman Secret Svc agent when Trump was shot that stabbed around for 30 seconds trying to hit the holster and tell me how it happens.
I am very experienced with pretty much everything and I”ve never holstered in the apendix position that didn’t have a safety. I unclip the holster, put the gun in it and insert the gun and holster. I’ve shot about a half million rounds through 1911’s so a safety in that position is automatic for me.
and they only happen to ‘officers’, no civilians.
