A Pair of Lawsuits Promise to Expose the Truth Behind the July 1996 Disaster.
On July 17, 1996, TWA 800, a Paris-bound 747, blew up ten miles off Long Island’s south shore, killing all 230 souls on board. In the days leading up to the anniversary, I will share some fresh insights on this tragedy and the much too successful cover-up that followed.
After 25 years investigating the destruction of TWA Flight 800, I have learned to temper my enthusiasms. That said, I continue to take heart when I see signs of life. Perhaps the most promising development in the case is the progression through the courts of Krick v. Raytheon.
Ronald Krick is the father of Oliver Krick, a 25-year-old student flight engineer killed in the crash. Krick has been joined in the suit by relatives of other deceased passengers and crew. The defendants are the Raytheon Company, the Lockheed Martin Corporation, and the United States government.
The Krick suit gained momentum when it absorbed information gleaned from a FOIA suit brought by Tom Stalcup, a no-nonsense physicist who has been pursuing this case since he was a grad student in 1996. To establish his claims Stalcup was granted subpoena power and was able to depose several key witnesses from within the investigation.
Stalcup appeared in the 2001 documentary, Silenced, produced by me and my late partner James Sanders. In 2013 Stalcup and the late Kristina Borjesson, formerly of CBS News, produced the excellent documentary, TWA Flight 800. What follows are extended passages from Krick v. Raytheon.
—On July 17, 1996, a Boeing 747 headed for Paris took off from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at around 8:20 p.m. Within twelve minutes of takeoff, the plane exploded and crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island, New York. All 230 passengers and crew members perished.
—After the incident, the federal government released a false report contending that the explosion was the result of an electrical fire in the airplane’s center fuel tank.
—Only recently, thanks to the work of physicist, Dr. Thomas Stalcup, through his Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) litigation in Massachusetts federal court, has evidence emerged proving that TWA 800’s explosion was not caused by any defect in the airplane, but instead by an errant United States missile fired at aerial target drones flying nearby.
—The evidence unearthed by Dr. Stalcup establishes that the United States, including its agencies, such as the United States Missile Defense Agency (formerly known as the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization), the United States Department of Defense, and the United States Navy (the “Government Defendants”), acting in concert and working side-by-side with Raytheon Company and Lockheed Martin Corporation (the “Contractor Defendants”) and DOES 1 through 20, inclusive (collectively the “Defendants”) were testing the Aegis Weapons System and firing SM-2 missiles with live warheads from warship(s) at aerial missile targets off the coast of New York in close proximity to commercial airline flight paths. One such missile struck TWA flight 800, causing it to break apart and crash into the Atlantic Ocean, killing everyone aboard.
—Newly discovered evidence also shows that these Defendants engaged in a top-down cover-up to prevent the public from learning the truth about TWA 800. Proof of this cover-up, and of Defendants’ underlying culpability for the crash, was only recently unearthed by Dr. Stalcup after more than a decade of FOIA litigation against the Government Defendants.....SNIP
Yes, Bush’s perfidy in many things is now openly known. He has openly thrown thrown in with the Left, especially on illegals in this country.
He fully deserves the maledictions of good men. He is not a friend of this country.
I think it is well accepted that the Deep Staters in the government (of which one is Bush) far outnumber true conservatives.
I spoke to a man whose job is to keep planes flying. I told me the entire plane was recovered and that it is in a warehouse but would not say where it is.
He said the pieces prove the explosion was cause by a faulting electric wire sparking and igniting fuel fumes.
We’ll see if that story holds up.

His personal office was his hanger at Hicks Airport, just north of Saginaw, Texas.
He became unreachable after that time.
At least we can trust these 3 guys’ medical advice!
Shirley there’s no way that these 3 men would be lying.
And these three guys REALLY wanted you to take it -
COMING TO YOU FROM A CEMETERY, no less........
The science is clear! - W
When it comes to the va666ine and b666sters, I certainly trust W, Bill and Barack!!

1. I have my real doubts about the official report.
But ...
2. The 747 burns jet A or Jet A1
3. The vapors in a partially filled center tank were likely within the explosive limits of JetA/A1, which range from .7% to over 5%, per several good sources.
4. The above makes it possible that an exposed spark in the tank could have ignited the vapors. Note well only vapors can explode. JET A liquid neither burns nor explodes, only the vapors can explode. Point being the entirety of the contents of the center fuel tank would not explode. The vapors would ‘explode’ and the spilled fuel would vaporize and atomize and then burn in the air around the aircraft. Just refer to pictures of WW2 bombers trailing fire and not exploding.
5. Not knowing the physical structure of the tank, I can only ponder how the force of said ignited fuel would rupture the tank. No idea why the aircraft would split in two. THAT is a lot of force to split an otherwise intact 747 into 2 parts.
6. Clinton and team were dirtbags and couldn’t afford an embarrassment like shooting down a passenger airplane.
7. Per number 1 above, I have real doubts about the report.
There were eye witnesses that observed an object in an upward path strike the plane. Always believed this was a major coverup.
“I get it that perhaps the Navy isn’t going to sail all the way out to the serogasso sea just to conduct some missile tests, but doing them right off the coast of long island would be negligent.”
If there is one thing that is always an absolute sure bet it would be that government is dysfunctional, incompetent, and grossly negligent. And they never admit when they are wrong or when they have screwed up.
To think I respected W at one time..........
It was amazing when a TWA employee had some material tested, and it was missile residue. Then the government said the plane had been used to train bomb sniffing dogs. And people bought this.
Pierre Salinger announced the day after, that it was the US Navy.
Then the radar showing a projectile heading toward the aircraft, was “artifact”.
Sorry! I must have missed it.
What are your Bona Fides?
If TWA 800 was shot down by a Navy ship, there would be hundreds of witnesses onboard the ship.
-Explain why none of these witnesses have come forward to verify that a navy ship fired a missile that day.
-Explain why a audit of navy missiles would verify that no missiles were fired.
1910s.
Many people have to look in that mirror, and I am one of them.
It is often disturbing to think there are so many people on this website invested in their “ideological purity” that they would have voted in a way that ensured the election of someone like Al Gore or John Kerry.
And they are proud of it, too (voting for a third party candidate) just so they can keep the purity of their ideological skirt intact.
I remember seeing the radar feed on the internet, but it was taken down soon after. The missile (target) was traveling so fast it showed on only two sweeps. Then the airliner target showed primary reflections coming out the opposite side of the strike.
When this happened there were many here on FR never believed the story. They had friends or relatives who saw the missle heading toward the plane. There was a large group of people at a party in the Hamptons that saw the missile and even took a photo of it. Of course the government confiscated the camera.
When some debris washed up on shore there was an investigator who tried to have it analyzed. I think the government fought him legally and gave him a very hard time. Does anyone here remember any of those details?
I can’t imagine either of those two having been in office
That being said, the American way of life changed on 09/11/2001 and that country will never return - sadly
But thank God we did NOT get that Kamala thing....good gosh
“Even a tank that is not nitrogen filled will not explode due to sparking. There would be very little oxygen in the tank because that is always displaced with fumes during fueling. Not only that, sensors are explosion proofed by operating them at low voltage with series resistors outside of the tank. A dead short in the sensor would not cause appreciable heat, certainly not a spark. (I make sensors for gasoline tanks.)”
Yep, I was thinking this also. Oxygen has to be introduced into the tank or it just will not ignite, been that way for a hundred years now. I have pulled out even old style resistance coil sending units that were black and almost eaten through from normal constant “Electrical Arcing” that still never ignited gas fumes without oxygen. In fact they went bad because they had finally burnt through and disconnected the circuit. It just can’t happen without oxygen too. And especially jet fuel. It is basically #1 diesel fuel and almost takes a “wick” to burn a flame similar to an oil lamp let alone explode on it’s own even with oxygen mixed with fumes.
The physics and chemistry are just not there for their reasoning.
glowie?
Not buying. No way in hell a ship full of sailors wouldn’t have talked. This is in the same class as everyone on the beach in LA certain they saw a Chinese submarine shoot an ICBM to the west from just off the beach.
