It had been years since I could walk even a half mile. I did ride a bike and continue to lift weights, but newly walking again activated some muscles that had fallen to disuse.
Walking and weight training are the perfect combo for health.
I do plenty of walking. For aerobics I do a stint on a Bowflex elliptical. It’s a great machine. You’re right about weight training, but I do a lot of heavy weeding too. Pulling French broom bushes on steep slopes is not for wimps.
My Brother got his knee done - he's like a new man.
Looking forward to going to Gettysburg for walking tours.
I hope you enjoy many heathly & active years!

Absolutely. And, feeling better, too.
Lots of buzz lately about “Japanese walking” which is just 30 minutes broken into 3 minute interval of fast walking followed by 3 minutes slow.
I like that walking can be done anywhere anytime and without a lot of preparation. Most of the benefits of running with much lower risk of injury.
Two years ago, my Dr convinced me to get a Pro-Form cycle with IFit training. I’m more of an anaerobic weight lighting guy, so I resisted. Today, I’m down 25 pounds and have cycled roads and trails (virtually) all over the world. Just did Biokovo, Croatia a few minutes ago. Learning geography and staying toned. I highly recommend it.
He's in good shape, normal weight, eats well. Blood work great.
In his early years he was very athletic so all the joint aggravation may have come from that.
Or it's genetic. He was adopted so we have no idea on his parentage.
It does not matter what you do, as long as it’s a daily workout of some sort. Be it at the gym, the wood shop, long walks or trying to chase down that hot 25 year old blonde girl that keeps teasing you, you gotta do it.
I just finished building a 315 foot fence along my back property line. That was my workout routine during the course of the project!

The farther you walk, the longer you live.
Y’all check back in when you are 85! I’ve got your weights right here!😎
I love to walk especially in the Black hills of SD.
I’ve participated in the Crazy horse volksmarch at least a dozen times.
Ive been amazed at the changes I see every year.
Beyond that there are many amazing trails to hike
Now I just walk for an hour every other day and my mine and body looks forward to the relaxation I feel when I finish
.
I joined the local gym for weight training. They apologized because I had to pay $23 a month.
Book mark
Walking vs. strength training?
You can do both!
I’ll be 65 in 3 mo’s. Exercised most all of my life. Not exceptional. 5’10”. 183.2 lbs at the gym yesterday.(lost 1 lb pissed my wife off). Not trying to lose weight. She is. Wow! She’s been dedicated. 11 1/2 hours of pilates last week. Plus 2 hours of barre. Plus 4 hours of gym on none Pilates day. Plus walking at lunch for an hour. She’s at a “plateau”. I tried to tell her, don’t worry about it. Her trainer says don’t worry about it....she worries about it. Anyway. Her body is changing even if she isn’t satisfied. BTW. She’s 66!
And gym is something we do together. I’m not going to Pilates. Too many women and I don’t need the attention!(I’m kidding).
