Changes could be coming to Southwest Airlines over the next few years.
While at an airport industry conference this week, Southwest Airlines CEO Bob Jordan spoke about the future of the Dallas-based airline. His goal is to stop losing customers to competitors.
"Whatever customers need in 2025, 2030, we won’t take any of that off the table," Jordan told CNBC. "We know we send customers to other airlines because there’s some things you might want that you can’t get on us. That includes things like lounges, like true premium, like flying long-haul international. I want to send fewer and fewer customers to another airline."
Speaking of airport lounges, Jordan mentioned Southwest's familiarity with Nashville International Airport. He said, "Nashville loves us, and we know we have Nashville customers that want lounges."

Sorry for you all who still have to fly. I haven't in years and don't miss what's going on now.
I had several conversations with Herb K., I know that he would be very upset with the way SWA is being flown into the ground.
I flew on PSA in the 70’s when the “STEWS” were in HOT PANTS!!
This may be a historic moment. I think this is the first time I’ve ever agreed with you 100% on a post lol. You nailed it. That’s exactly what it is. A high class pump and dump.
YEP!
.
LOL!
Yes, my FRiend, I fly SWA 2 or three round trips per year (ave). I prefer Alaska, but they are booth pretty good.
Respectfully, I do not agree about leg room. For most other airlines, for a fee, I can have a bit more, I'm okay with the fee.
The current seat rush with SWA by boarding group is a bit third world, I prefer assigned seating.
Funny cabin crew? Yes, I appreciate humor (if it's cleverly delivered and timed well. Some folks are much better at humor than others), and some of the funniest gals on the mic were on SWA.
Lately? Not as many from my recent experience.
Ha! I’m actually pretty certain there are many other things we actually agree on. Just a few we disagree about sharply.
Taking it back to the 70’s and 80’s would be to much to ask;
Larger seats with more leg room but no reserved seats just buy your ticket and get in line.
Free baggage and one drink from the cart.
And of course pretty and friendly young stewardesses in hotpants.
Herb used to throw in a bottle of Wild Turkey with premium tickets!
SW also goes thru MDW and not chicongo O’Hare
It is a bummer, I was a big Southwest fan. Cheap flights, board quickly, good natured employees. It’s just another airline now, full of policies to extract a few more $$$ out of you.
:)
