Underneath what you can see, AI is involved in everything we do digitally now - any search on the Internet, anything you order online, many customer service aspects of sites you use all the time, etc. It’s also increasingly used in all aspects of medical care.
I tried to look up a friend of mine - killed in a traffic accient.
Searches produced a Law Firm advocating a lawsuit - - -
No details on the accident.
I guess I knew that, alto I avoid it at all costs. I do feel it will accelerate the end of humanity. I would never use it to replace my thinking. Too many doing that already. As mentioned in this thread’s article subject..
I have not fallen for the alarmist views. I have been saying such for a year or more prior to when the public even knew what it was, now it’s become mainstream and I feel so even more strongly.
AI, as a formal field of study, goes back to the 1950s. It’s been in various stages of development and application ever since then.
he is the creator of his own suffering, because Facebookâs creator designed it as a revenge site of his own suffering. Schadenfreude.
What's a LLM?
(It is not AI, AI does not exist, AI probably never will exist, this is a recording.)
It pulls stuff from the internet and from the (stolen) fiction that was used to program it and tries to assemble it into a whole that will be acceptable to who ever the user is. Which is why you will hear people talk about how they trained their "AI" to give them the answers they wanted. Problem is that it only does it for them. The larger program remains unaffected. One person will get one set of answers to a question and the person sitting next to them will get quite another.
It is a very clever piece of programming and could be used for a number of good things. But people treat it as something it is not.
Plan B is to post hilariously dumb stuff on social media.
Then the obituaries can be amusing.
“Nancy Smith’s favorite hobbies including slaughtering elephants in Africa, sewing and howling at the moon.”
Lol.
More at link?
Geez he’s long-winded.
And, please don't use your favorite LLM to try to assemble an argument. I have still not recovered from someone trying to "Prove" to me that Linear A had been deciphered.
(I’ve never used any program to compose my posts.)
You seem to see a surface, and believe it’s the whole of the thing.
Do you believe this science/technology should be abandoned? Do you understand anything about the military, medical, and other uses - many of which are already being applied, and helping to keep us safe?
You need to learn something about that - because the Chinese, among others, certainly are doing so.
The very recent exponential growth (probably due to availability of computing power) is what got my attention.
It’s already being abused. I do not believe that the abuse will subside.
AI can give power to people that otherwise are not intellegent enough to gain it on their own. That’s an elementary case of my point.
A lot of very beneficial things are abused.
Nuclear energy is one, and why we may be on the brink of war.
But should we have never developed it?
I for one welcome our new AI overlords.
Boring. I'm still waiting on my BBM (Big Boobed Model) for companionship and domestic chores.
How so and WHERE?
Customer service? I talk to REAL, live human beings on a LANDLINE!
Medical care? NO way; I've refused to have an on line account and again, speak with human beings ONLY; in person or on the phone.
Hey...I still write letters using a fountain pen, though I do use a rollerball on cards.
Do I now get really STUPID suggestions, when sending emails, but I write at a much higher level than the utter crap the suggestions are and have a superior vocabulary.
