DUBAI—Iran has been urgently signaling that it seeks an end to hostilities and resumption of talks over its nuclear programs, sending messages to Israel and the U.S. via Arab intermediaries, Middle Eastern and European officials said.
In the midst of a ferocious Israeli air campaign, Tehran has told Arab officials they would be open to return to the negotiating table as long as the U.S. doesn’t join the attack, the officials said. They also passed messages to Israel saying it is in the interest of both sides to keep the violence contained.
But with Israeli warplanes able to fly freely over the capital and Iranian counterattacks inflicting minimal damage, Israeli leaders have little incentive to halt their assault before doing more to destroy Iran’s nuclear sites and further weaken the theocratic government’s hold on power.
Israeli strikes have killed key military leaders, including much of the top echelon of Iran’s air force, leaving Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei increasingly isolated. But the impact on nuclear facilities has been modest and analysts say it could take a long air war to get the results Israel wants.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said the attacks will continue until Iran’s nuclear program and ballistic missiles are destroyed, and he has shown no indication he is ready to stop. He has also said regime change isn’t a goal but could be a result given the Iranian leadership’s weakness.

It’s amazing they are almost toppling the entire country of Iran, but just can’t get Hamas wiped out...
Article reads like propaganda.
Rather a lot of conjecture going on. Who confirmed Fordow contains anything? Why is it presumed that Iran wants U-235 rather than Pu-239, of which 99.8% of all nuclear warheads on earth is made? Why would they not want a design that matches those tested by so many places, rather than try their own with U-235?
It has seemed clear for some time that Iran could agree to halt all Uranium processing, open the facilities to UN inspection and clearly totally stop all nuclear activity, and that region would STILL try to topple their democratically elected government. This is a combination of Israeli based hatred and Sunni based hatred pointed at a Shiite country that happens to have enormous gas reserves (more gas than oil) so they can fund things.
Yes, they have a Supreme Leader who has veto power over the government via religious imperatives, but if you read the wiki on their constitution you will see that their elected president and legislature has nearly all power. Over budget. Over treaties with other countries. Funding for the military. Over nearly all the day to day activities of any government. Their current president was elected last year. Democratically, along with their legislature.
Note also the current Supreme Leader’s name is Khameini. Not Khomeini. The guy who supervised the embassy invasion and hostage taking died in 1989. This new guy is not him.
SURE!
Total surrender.
KILL THEM ALL.
Iran is a secular people held hostage by an Islamist government they did not elect. Let them choose their own leadership.
There’s no crying in Jihad.
What makes them think they are in any position to negotiate?!? Hells to the no!
I’ve spoken with about ten IDF soldiers who kicked in doors in gaza. They each separately told almost the exact same story in disbelief:
“Every single house we went into had weapons. AK47s in the bedroom. RPGs in the closet. A tunnel entrance under the baby’s cradle. gaza is hamass. There are no innocents.”
is this a parody? Sarcasm? Wit? The great majority of the Iranian people hate the current Islamic regime. They live under a theocratic dictatorship.
But, you know that. We understand that you're kidding. Very funny.
yup- pound them Bibi!!!
or maybe a direct order from Putin
Nope.
Lol!

Sorry, I don’t buy the idea that they have some reasonable form of democracy running the country. In the Soviet Union they had all sorts of democratic principles written into their constitution, too. Just because it’s in the constitution doesn’t mean it’s real.
And even if they do have a true democratically elected legislature, doesn’t that just support the idea that they have exactly the form of government, with exactly the policies they want?
Strange Iran hasn’t tried to the strait of Hormuz like the Obama apology days. Probably can’t afford it with a protracted war.
They want a Hudna.
Step 1. is stop launching missiles - then you can talk.
Are these Iranian negotiators originally from North Vietnam?
