My daughters have gifted me a six month subscription for a popular dating site for Father's Day.
My wife of 39 years (their mother) died over two years ago and I went through successful cancer treatment last year and in now in remission. I mentioned to my daughters that I might be open to meeting someone now given that the numerical odds are in my favor and my sweet wife waiting in heaven would want me to be happy for the next twenty years or so of my life.
They are also going to introduce me to some of their contacts who might be open to a pity date. Of course (being good daughters) they asked if I would consider anyone outside my race, religion, etc. I told them that the one and only turn-off would be liberals.
My life's experience is that it is generally easier to get someone to change one's religion, cultural outlook or almost anything other than extreme political views. Liberals come with an entitlement mentality. At best, they would be a waste of time and dinner money. At worst, they would have divorce rape on their minds . . . pretend to love you in order to steal half of what you have worked a lifetime to earn.
I am realistic enough to understand that finding someone like my late wife would be impossible. She was kind, caring, conservative and had a big heart. I loved her dearly and deeply. We raised three highly successful children who have blessed us with wonderful grandchildren. But I would far rather spend the rest of my life alone than get romantically involved with a liberal leftist lunatic with divorce rape on her mind.

Nope, you are not being mean. I am single and couldn’t date a liberal, as they just refuse to accept facts, or reality. I am NOT going to spend the remainder of my life with someone who is delusional.

My 2cents: As a Conservative female, I advise you to stick to Conservative women. A leftist or liberal one would be constantly trying to convert/change YOU to their stance and beliefs... and aren’t you a little old to have to deal with that kind of stress and pressure? I’m thinking your wife would want you happy = unstressed, and having a relationship with a leftie ain’t it...lol.
Case in point - I once worked at a home office as manager for someone that was allowing a leftie female to bunk in his spare room. Every day I would get handed a “bash Walmart” article that she had printed out for my benefit, trying to turn me to her “thinking”. This was during the era when leftists were targeting Walmart, back in the 90s. It was hilarious, since I’m not someone that can ‘be pressured’, but her Mensa self couldn’t discern that.
Point is, don’t open yourself to that kind of aggravation. Good luck and happy hunting.

Over my lifetime, I dated a few women with a liberal political bias.
They were the only relationships that did not end on friendly terms.
I tried dating a liberal and after 4 months her claws came out. I did find a conservative mate at the age of 72. GOOD LUCK

I could never be with any woman whom I don’t respect. Since I have no respect for any liberals, I could not be with a liberal woman.
I have always thought it would be hard to insist on a pre-nup, even though I understand why it may be desired
However, if anything ever happens to my dear wife of 33 years, and I look like I may be heading toward a 2nd marriage, I think it would be easy to say, “sorry, honey, but 90% of what I have is going to my kids/grandkids,” and either back that up with an ironclad prenup, irrevocable trusts, or some other vehicle.
I would rather be alone in a cave than with a mouthy caledonia ...
My wife is fairly liberal and I love her dearly. But I’ve had to put up with her falling into liberal traps. When I called COVID the “China Virus” she told me that was racist (but...my own mom was born in Shanghai). She also threatened to divorce me if I didn’t take the vaxx.
I’m a Christian and she is a jaded former Catholic. She’s gone to church with me three times in the 20 years we’ve been married.
However, through it all I have been very happy and care for her deeply, as she does with me. It’s been worth it. But, I wouldn’t recommend you take that chance. Find someone who is aligned with you spiritually and politically.
