As luck would have it, Beau asked me to ride with him to Monroe, WI today. We’re going to Baumgartner’s Cheese Store & Tavern for lunch and also to The Swiss Colony to stock up on cheesy comestibles!

‘Venezuelan Beaver Cheese?’
Customer: It’s not much of a cheese shop, is it?
Wenslydale: Finest in the district!
Customer: (annoyed) Explain the logic underlying that conclusion, please.
Wenslydale: Well, it’s so clean, sir!
Customer: It’s certainly uncontaminated by cheese...

Somebody give me a cheeseburger!
Where did Monterey Jack get its name? Here's an interesting cheese
fact: a form of Monterey Jack cheese was first made by 18th-century
friars in Monterey, but it's named after David Jacks, a businessman
who was one of the first to widely sell and distribute the cheese in the late 1800s.
Now you know….
How could this not be one of the favorite days of the year?
In my fridge right now I have sliced cheddar and provolone and two types of “cheesy” salad dressings, blue cheese and feta - shredded we have mozarella and and jack.
Will be using the parmesan today for a balsamic chicken dish I’m making later.
Like my cheese to be sharp. Very disappointing when buying a sandwich or hero and the cheese is tasteless. Jimmy Johns, Jersey Mike’s and others. A quality cheese covers a multitude of cuisine sins.
I highly recommend Gjetost, alt. “Brunost” or “Mysost”, a Norwegian ‘anti-cheese’ made with whey, milk, and/or cream.
The dominant US importer is the Ski Queen brand. It is popular both there and in South Korea, for some reason.
I prefer it as a breakfast cheese, and it pairs well with breakfast fruits and other fare.
