Matt Taibbi Files $10 Million Libel Lawsuit Against Democratic Congresswoman
National Review ^ | 04/03/2025 | James Lynch

Independent journalist Matt Taibbi filed a $10 million libel lawsuit against a Democratic congresswoman on Thursday for allegedly falsely accusing him of sexual harassment and amplifying her claim on her social media accounts.

Taibbi sued Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D., Calif.) in New Jersey federal court for calling him a “serial sexual harasser” during a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee hearing Tuesday about online censorship.

“These statements are demonstrably false and were made with actual malice—either with knowledge of their falsity or with reckless disregard for their truth,” Taibbi’s lawsuit reads.

“The allegations echo prior false claims that have been the subject of legal action and multiple public corrections, of which Defendant was undoubtedly aware, evidencing her actual malice.”

Kamlager-Dove criticized Republicans at the start of the hearing for “elevating a serial sexual harasser as their star witness.” Her statements at the hearing are protected by the Speech and Debate Clause of the Constitution, but Taibbi’s lawsuit argues that her online amplification of those statements is not, because it falls outside her legislative duties.

Kamlager-Dove posted a transcript of her remarks on her congressional website and amplified videos of her statement on X and Bluesky, a liberal-dominated social media platform.

“After this, Republicans gave Matt Taibbi time to defend himself. It’s telling that he didn’t,” she said on X and Bluesky.

National Review has reached out to Kamlager-Dove’s office for comment.

Taibbi has not been accused of or charged with sexual harassment by any woman. The articles that the congresswoman appears to be referring to describe a satirical passage in a book Taibbi co-authored about writing a Moscow nightlife guide in 1990s Russia.

The women referenced in the passage have both been interviewed and confirmed that Taibbi never sexually harassed them.

Matt Taibbi was for a long time, a very caustic critic of conservatives, republicans etc. He happens to be an excellent writer and someone who actually does investigate his investigative journalism. Wish him luck in his suit.

It is so fascinating to see him realize that the side he’s been on all this time is ready to destroy him at the drop of the hat for any departure from the party line. He may one day be a David Horowitz figure.

Immunity on the floor of Congress. Not on social media

Liberals feel a lie is as good as the truth if their butt boys in the press go along with the lies.

Suing these blowhard democrats is a good first step.

Ohhhh...yeah. That’s the bad ju-ju. To “amplify” via social media.

She must not be very bright.

These need to happen. And it isn’t just the liberal people and supporters fighting among themselves. The liberals have been getting away with their mouths for so long it has become the expected whether it is true or false, right or wrong, or even immoral or righteous. It’s just noise put out for dramatic effect to gain control over people that have been trained to accept it. And more often than not, can be considered malfeasance. And it shouldn’t stop with the media. It should be coming out of the mouths of our elected officials to stop it, every time it is used. The way to train an animal is by rewarding for approved behavior or punishing for disapproved. So where are you people like all the congressmen that listen and are supposed to react to this by protecting the American people from it?

Remember their disinterest when you go to the ballot box in a couple of years. The US is going through many changes right now with the intervention of Trump and his band of merry people that are putting their foot in the mouths of the unethical and villainess people trying to hurt the people for their security and booty. Trump calls out media ever time he feels they have overstepped their position in society. Where is everyone else?

Angry black women are allowed to say anything they want when ever they want. It says so in the constitution or one of those old laws somewhere. ;~)

Unfortunately, the slush fund specifically set up to pay settlements due to Congress members’ crimes — DUI, rape, whatever — will likely be where the money comes from, not the dindu.

I don’t see how he can even sue, given that Congress-critters have immunity for everything they say during sessions of Congress.

Maybe it’s for what she did on social media. That wouldn’t be protected. I bet that’s it.

“Angry black women are allowed to say anything they want when ever they want.”

Not with angry black men they don’t. They tend to wind up in 55 gallon drums.😎
