The AGM-45 Shrike was an American anti-radiation missile designed to home in on hostile anti-aircraft radar. The Shrike was developed by the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake in 1963 by mating a seeker head to the rocket body of an AIM-7 Sparrow. It was the initial weapon of choice for the Wild Weasels to take out enemy radars.
The Shrike was replaced by the AGM-78 Standard ARM or STARM (Navy version) which was replaced by the AGM-88 HARM (High-speed Anti-Radiation Missile) which remains in service.
The Shrike was named for the Shrike bird, also known as the butcher bird.

It took two presidents to pretty much destroy the US patent system. Reagan got snockered by Tip O’Neill into cutting protection to 17 years from 20. Reagan thot he was just cutting the time for meds but they cut everything. Then Klintoon finished it off by making us rent them with another payment at 5, then another payment at 10 years.
After that I quit using patents. Along with those changes the PO started granting new patents for very minor changes to old ones. At a minimum this required extremely careful descriptions on the original.
When I have a new idea now I just start selling it as soon as I can make a few. Note that copyright rules can give a lot of protection especially if you write detailed operating instructions. Anyone wanting to steal the idea has to come up way different descriptions. Back in the 60’s when I did my first few patent apps they would reject an app that was remotely close to an old one, even an expired one. Not the case anymore. And foreign thieves have always been a problem but you can protect your domestic market pretty well.
Some of the stuff I do is firearms related such that they are pretty useless to furriners.
