There is now a statement from Iran that the B2 attack did “major damage”. All other sources claim the damage was significant and destroyed much of the infrastructure of the Iran nuclear program. At least ten top nuclear scientists are dead, and maybe 14, so the human capability is gone as well. The top layer of military command are dead, as are others. Much of the ballistic missile capacity is blown up and without launchers it renders the missile inventory useless. All top officials in Iran now know they can be killed by Israel and that makes a functioning government much harder. Now they know they have been infiltrated at the highest levels, and they do not know who or what to trust. The economy is also devastated the power grid has severe problems with blackouts in Tehran daily. The currency has crashed over the past few months in the real free market. The war has been a disaster for Iran. Now there will be some sort of regime change and maybe driven by the military which would mean even more crackdown, but underneath the people are now realizing they are at real risk of attacks and further economic dislocation. We will now have to wait to see if they agree to end all their nuclear work and, if not, they will again get attacked by the US and Israel if they try to restart it. Israel knows where the enriched uranium is so they will not be able to hide it and keep it. While Israel had some bad damage, it was not very serious in the grand scheme, and the stock market hit new highs. Overall, it did not suffer major damage other than to the Weisman Institute research areas which is a major setback for cancer research.
The media and some others want to waste time arguing how much damage was done and where is some 400 pounds of enriched material. There seems to be universal agreement even from Iran and the UN that extensive damage was done. The leak of the DOD report has been well established as being incomplete and leaked to disparage Trump. What really matters is Iran suffered massive damage to its leadership, its nuclear program and its ability to wage war against Israel. They essentially capitulated. Now we need to see if there is real regime change. There is no possibility they will have any nuclear program for the next three years at least because Trump will blow up any new efforts, so the silly conspiracy theories about the bombing being bandied around are stupid and irrelevant. What matters is Iran lost and is no longer the existential threat to Israel nor to the world. Trump has set an entire new geopolitics for the world with the bombing. He reset the US as the lead nation. He made it clear to all he will not hesitate to attack and successfully if needed. The Obama foreign policy is over now. That is what changed with the bombing. You saw it at the NATO meeting. It is all different now and the world just had a massive historic inflection point that will change history for decades. So, all the back and forth about what did the bombs do or not, is a bunch of children arguing in the playground.
The attack by the B2’s changed the entire world geopolitics. It proved Trump is willing to attack with devastating ability if needed. The military performed flawlessly for a massively complex operation. That alone sends a very strong message to the world that the US military is back on top. Putin proved to be useless to Iran and weak. He has now lost everything in the Mideast and has shown to be a worthless ally. Xi has to also be rethinking his situation since China also failed to show up for Iran, and now they are faced with the ability of the US to launch a major undetected attack. He has to now wonder what Trump might do to protect Taiwan. According to the economics minister of Russia last Friday the Russian economy is now close to or will soon be in recession. The GDP has declined 65% in Q1. Plantings this season were way below the need. Bankruptcies are up 20% and the labor shortage is having major bad impacts. One of the big arms manufacturers just shut down for lack of getting paid. The cash reserves of the government have declined from $145 billion to $39 billion and are expected to essentially run out in a year. Russia is now embarked on a major summer offensive and if it fails, they will have been stopped. The key is can they cross the Dnieper River or not. It is a big wide river. They now hold less land than they did at the beginning of the war. Putin now is faced with a massively more cohesive and prepared NATO and in a few years, NATO will be far better armed and prepared. Putin has caused serious major damage to Russia from which it may never recover.
The axis of evil of Russia, China, Iran and N Korea is setback materially. Trump has changed the world with the B2 attack and getting NATO to go to 5%. NATO has gone from ridiculing Trump in the first term, to now lauding him and thanking him. Russia has just lost a key arms supplier in Iran. Everything in geopolitics is now different. There is a new sheriff in town who is not afraid to shoot. The US military is now on a whole new path to retool weapons, and the tech industry is now fully helping after years of resisting. Oil prices now will stay around $63-$65 as that is a number for the moment the Saudis can live with, and Iran will not be shut off by bombing.
This is the major world inflection point in history I have been referring to. You are seeing it live each day. The entire power structure of geopolitics has completely changed from US weakness to US total dominance. The impact of this will be felt for decades. It is the end of the post WWII world and set of rules and institutions. The US economy will be unrivaled, and the trade deals will reset how trade is conducted. The world needs the US market. Once the Big Bill passes and the trade deals get done, the capital investment in the US will boom. The dollar will rise. The stock market will hit new highs over time. Only China can rival us in technology which will be key to economic prosperity, but their economy remains a mess. The long-term future of the US now is far more likely than it has been.
The Dems have completely gone insane. They are on the entire wrong side in the Iran situation. The bombing was a huge success despite Dems talking about impeachment and war powers etc. Now they are complaining that their briefing being moved to Friday from Tuesday is a some sort of horrible thing even though Hegseth and Rubio were in Europe on Tuesday and intel needs more time to get a better assessment of battle damage. They just nominated a far left socialist to be their candidate for NYC mayor. He is a devout Muslim who is blatantly anti-Semitic, has far left policies that would destroy NYC, and he has never had a job until he became a state assemblyman. The business community and real estate industry and banking industry have rallied yesterday and will find a single candidate to run against him in November. Cuomo will be pushed out as will Sliwa the Republican. They will be paid off in some way to go away. Adams will also likely be paid to go away, or they might choose him as the candidate. Maybe Bloomberg will run, but maybe someone else. The fact that Madama was nominated by the Dems shows several things. The Dems have really failed to grasp the reality of US cultural change and politics. They are indoctrinated by the educational institutions to be radical leftists and anti-Semites. It was mainly young people who voted for him, and it is incredible that they fail to understand even basic economic realty. Every well to do person who I know is planning to leave NYC. The top 1% pay 48% of NYC income tax. That is about 6,000 families. If many of them leave, NYC goes bankrupt very quickly. I moved my permanent residence to the Hamptons years ago. If Wall St moves out the city will be financially destroyed forever. Miami will be the big winner. This guy is far worse the DeBlasio who was a disaster.
SCOTUS just gave Trump a huge win on deportations, and it is my assumption they will give him more major victories tomorrow when they rule, he is allowed to fire people and carry out his proper executive functions, and that district judges cannot set policy for the nation. I expect them to provide a historic decision on these issues and embed the right of a president to run the country. This will be equal to Marbury vs Madison in historic impact. There will be more decisions giving him the right to round up illegals and send them out. It will end the lawfare judge shopping we have seen from the Dems.
New data show consumers are in good shape. Leverage is down, delinquencies are down and going lower, wages now easily exceed inflation, gas prices are down, consumers have savings and real equity. The median 401K is $95,000 and growing, so between home equity with the recent rise in values, and the stock market at all-time highs, the wealth affect has made a positive impact even on the average family. The Fed is now probably going to cut 25 in July instead of September making the stock market happy, but it is very possible the ten-year will rise a bit in rate and the Fed cut will not help the mortgage market. Banks are in good shape, the CRE crisis never really happened even though there remain many more multifamily and hotel defaults to come over the next year. The hotel industry is headed for more problems and defaults over the next year. Office has at least stabilized at far lower values. Some CRE, especially multi, will be a good place to invest if you can buy good assets at a deep discount from banks. Generally, I have become far more optimistic about the economy after the bombs dropped and changed the world.
The risks are now being dealt with, and my July date for seeing where we are is about here, and after the bombing things are far more clear and good. The big Bill will pass. Tariffs are not the big bad event the Street feared. SCOTUS will make things a lot easier for Trump to do what we elected him to do. I am now much more optimistic for good news in July and a rising stock market. I sold out of oil several days ago but still hold gold. I am up over 10% YTD even with 30% in treasuries and gold, so I am feeling like this now has a real chance to be a good year. I think the end of the world forecasts for the economy and markets I have heard in the last week or so are now nonsense.
