The United Nations warned Wednesday there is a 70 percent chance that average warming from 2025 to 2029 will exceed the 1.5 degrees Celsius international benchmark.
The planet is therefore expected to remain at historic levels of warming after the two hottest years ever recorded in 2023 and 2024, according to an annual climate report published by the World Meteorological Organization, the UN's weather and climate agency.
"We have just experienced the 10 warmest years on record," said the WMO's deputy secretary-general Ko Barrett.
"Unfortunately, this WMO report provides no sign of respite over the coming years, and this means that there will be a growing negative impact on our economies, our daily lives, our ecosystems and our planet."

Temperatures in 2024 already exceeded the useless 1.5 degree threshold. No one noticed, because it doesn’t matter. In 2050 Al Gore will be dead and there will be plenty of snow in the winter.
The 1.5 C “tipping point’ number is not based on science, it was hand picked by the Global Warming priests to be not so large that no one would worry about it, and not so small that it would be passed and then ignored when nothing serious happened. The priests started with 2 C, and then backed off to 1.5, when the warming was found to be so slow that it was too far off. If it were based on ‘science’, it wouldn’t be a nice round number, rather an endless series of numbers, rounded off to say, 1.483.
In actuality, 1.5 C has already been passed by many analyses, and already nothing serious has happened. If anyone is really worried about it they can just move a hundred miles, or so north and be back to where they started - temperature wise.
They will continue to adjust the data to fit their narrative I suppose. Easier than admitting to being frauds.

Here in Virginia we’re having the coolest spring I can remember. The high was about 60 yesterday and it’s 52 as I’m typing this.
Virginia Beach here, wife mentioned yesterday it was the coolest May we’ve had in a while. I worked the Oceanfront on Friday, windy and cooler, Monday was overcast, less wind, warmer .
The flowers are currently enjoying the cooler weather and rain.
