Ping the film mavens here please?

You know I have a b&w film in my brain. About an older man i. He is perhaps 40s who wants to marry an 19 year old girl after a whirlwind romance. Upper class.

He is about her mother’s age. Mother makes it clear to him that mother is dying and she is relieved that someone will be there for her young naive daughter and gives permission.

It was a bittersweet film. I cannot find it. It rings no bells. I do not know whether I

Yes, people DID "look older" than what they did in more modern times; however in his two first "talkies", he was already 36 or 37, in 1936's THE PETRIFIED FOREST and 37 or 38 in 1937's DEADEND.

Part of the "looking older at a youngish age", has to do with the clothing, hair styles, and makeup.

Oh, okay, but I think that you’ll really enjoy the movie; it’s very well done and has some unexpected twists and turns.

I'm a HUGE fan of Bette Davis, and DARK VICTORY is a "woman's movie"/"a weeper", as these used to be called. Not a bad film, but not great.

INVITAION is well worth watching.

Movie triva fact. Hepburn and the married Holden has an affair during the filming of Sabrina. He was going to leave his wife but when Hepburn was told he had a vasectomy she left him because she wanted children.

Hepburn STANK in MY FAIR LADY!

I disagree. she sold the part, including the transformation well. They didn't let her sing, but I heard the singing tests, and she was okay. Not Julie Andrews ok, but no one is Julie Andrews ok.

I am not predisposed to like Audrey Hepburn movies, and I liked that one. Of course, that was Rex Harrison's movie, but Hepburn did not stop it from being one of the greatest musicals of all time.

Well, I'm comparing her to Julie Andrews' LIZA; so for me, Hepburn STANK ON ICE.

Not a fan of Audrey's, but I do like her in a few films..."ROMAN HOLIDAY","CHARADE", and she was GREAT in "ROBIN AND MARIAN".

Having seen the Broadway production of "WAIT UNTIL DARK", she and the movie version were not good at all.

Re "MY FAIR LADY"...I much prefer the first film,"PYGMALION" which was the film version of the stage play, that starred Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller and wasn't a musical.

Truman Capote’s best was “In Cold Blood”.
