Latonya Pottain has passed away.
Known for appearing on Season 11 of “My 600-lb Life,” Pottain died on Saturday at CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, The Post can confirm.
She was 40 years old.
A representative for the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office told The Post that no autopsy was performed, but a preliminary cause of death revealed Pottain died of congestive heart failure. Since Pottain died of natural causes, there was no need for an autopsy. We were told that her body has been released to a funeral home of her family’s choosing, per the coroner.
Pottain passed away just hours after spending time with her family over the weekend.
Her brother shared the heartbreaking final time she saw her loved ones, revealing that several family members went to the reality star’s home on Saturday morning and witnessed that she was having trouble breathing.
He told TMZ that Pottain didn’t look well and expressed how uncomfortable she felt.
Pottain’s brother said the nurse called the family to inform them that Latonya had called an ambulance to bring her to the hospital because she was going into cardiac arrest, which ultimately took her life.
Pottain’s loved ones are finalizing funeral arrangements.
“Please join us in prayer for this dear family as they complete final care arrangements for their deceased loved one,” her online obituary read, which also included links to send flowers and to donate to her memorial.
Pottain’s heart issues were well documented, with her death coming roughly one year after she begged fans to “pray for me” amid her health battle.
“Y’all pray for me my heart not working right and there is nothing more the doctors can do here in Louisiana please keep me lifted,” she wrote in her alarming Facebook message, per The Sun.

I fail to understand all the obesity there is. It puts such a strain to the skeleton and internal organs. And 600 lbs isn’t simply obese, it’s morbidly overweight. I cannot feel sorry for people doing this form of suicide.
It’s pretty obvious these people don’t ‘play’ anything except maybe video games!....................
Literally, heart breaking.
I dont like hanging out with 23 other dudes lifting heavy stuff.
Too many enablers, bringing more food, to make themselves feel needed. These same enablers would constantly tell her that “it wasn’t her fault” she was so fat. Being fat was her “disease”. Munchausen on trans fats.
Its how they decide to wall themselves off away from other people. Defense mechanism. Pushes people away, tends to keep new people away.
I’d like to see the structural building codes for funeral homes...
Lord, have mercy!
A crematorium will probably be the only choice available.
Many create custom things, like a rag rapped around a stick/long handle.
I recently read that the frequent obesity of Labrador Retrievers is due to a genetic issue in fully HALF of them, that never shuts off their sense of hunger. Now I’m a little more sympathetic to owners whose labs get obese. If these people have a similar genetic issue I sure feel sorry for them. Never knowing satiety...how sad.
I remember that episode..many of them have died already its sad, died because they could not stop stuffing their faces
In Oregon, its considered a “disability” and they get cash for it.
I got on an elevator in Oregon and the guy had to turn sideways to get on.
First thought in my mind was calculating the weight limit on the elevator.
Seriously!
Some have medical issues that affect their weight.
The priest at my church when I was a kid was well over 400 pounds. He was over 6 feet tall with a booming baritone voice so he was definitely a commanding presence.
Heard that when he went to the doctor for a checkup, they had to weigh him on the laundry scale at the hospital (this is true, not a snarky joke).
When he passed, I went to his viewing and the casket was the size of a double bed. Not sure how many pallbearers it took, had to be at least 8.
I don't blame them. I can imagine what the room would look like after that autopsy.
I’ve never seen that program. But I sure hope anyone on that show, would be getting help on such a reality show.
They are also enabled. Story years ago of a 500lb woman that merged with the couch. Some had to keep bringing her food.

I wsa gonna say, “please, no pictures,” but you went and done it!
Quite possibly a child abuse victim from way back… The protection mechanism is fierce. Most likely had no help in processing her trauma. The sexual abuse of children, regardless of creed, color or gender is a huge problem
A decade or more ago, a friend who is a nurse was the top public spokesperson / PR for a good sized hospital. The stories she had of the equipment needed and problems dealing with the morbidly obese were frightening.
