It is just terrible because they know how corrupt and immoral their own country is - try immigrating to Mexico or breaking the law there. You will be put in a third world prison if you are lucky.
I don’t care, Margaret.
Go to your church food bank if you are actually hungry.
Which clause of the Constitution authorizes ass-raping the taxpayers to pay for your lobster? 🦞 I can’t seem to find it.
My Appalachian family relied on volunteer crops that farmers would leave behind for the poorer folks. My Grandfather traveled up into Virginia with other male family members to work in the mines and they would share a place to stay. They would NEVER take a dime from the government and neither would anyone else in their area. It was considered shameful.

thats ok some liberal judge will find it or make it up if it is opposed....
It all boils down to one thing: bennies given are virtually impossible to stop. They have their own inertia and in fact find a way to grow.
OK, I do believe that some form of food subsidence should be in the US, whether it is federal or state I don’t care. But the current scheme is not sustainable IMO.
I recall my mom telling me that during the depression in her area, their food subsistence was a box of basic food stuffs once a week. It came via a county welfare assistance office. I don’t know if it was delivered or you had to go fetch it. She was not on it as she grew up on a farm and they took care of themselves but nearby families lived off that program. The point of the program was this assistance will keep you going. If you think this is demeaning, get a job but at least you will not starve till then.
We are kidding ourselves if we think we live in a free economy. Consider all the direct subsidies and indirect enhancements for businesses, it is semi free at best.
Charity should be private and local.
“I disagree with your characterization that conservatives do extremist, non-common sense solutions or nothing at all, which is a provably false blanket statement you yourself have made against conservatism.”
First I am a Conservative. But I am also honest about the very real universal extremism of humans period across the board period no matter what the topic is. And absolutely no one is innocent of this very real inherent human nature. Not even myself, I have my own pet causes where I am an extremist. And yes discussions in the past about welfare and SNAP absolutely do have support for complete elimination here.
But in this case I am talking about government extremism and one size fit’s all legislation. They never practice common sense practical compromises that benefit everyone and both sides of an issue. They always go directly to the extreme of all or nothing. All on or all off. Never a meeting in the middle that is a win/win for all parties.
Hunger or “food insecurity “ in America is the biggest total scam out there. There are scores if not hundreds of different groups begging for money to “help the hungry”. If you give away free food THEY WILL COME. Give away free anything and see the same thing happens Free cars, free air conditioners, free clothes… you will be doing it forever. Let’s not even talk about how many of the recipients are obese.
Food stamps are to subsidize growers, manufacturers, packagers, delivery companies, wholesalers, and retailers, not the beneficiaries.
KIDS GET FOOD AT SCHOOL.
FOOD STAMPS ARE CALCULATED-—BUT NEVER MATCHED WITH THE FOOD PROVIDED AT SCHOOL
DOUBLE DIPPING
My lady friend had a job retrieving groceries for people that were ordered online. Had them waiting when the customers arrived. She told me some of these people paid with food stamps.
Confine purchases to rice and beans. They’ll get so sick of them it will put a dent in the obesity epidemic. Then there’s fruits/veggies. Confine them to the ones ready to spoil so the markets can dump them better.
You need to educate yourself about the fact the rules are not universal nation wide. Example work requirements. Your state waived them when others do not...

They are designed to subsidize Walmart and the major grocery store chains. It’s really that simple.
That’s why these companies are the strongest lobbyists for the perpetuation of the SNAP/EBT scam in this country.
The problem is spending and not on food stamps - sure there are a few abusers but every government program and agency has them. Cutting waste and fraud seems to be in, but a lot of those cuts are to useful and needful people as well as programs.
Take back all the green new deal money, contracts and stop subsidizing wind solar and bio power - that alone would be a trillion or more saved
But, to the topic: not only did I get that list of URLs, but I was also given a form to fill out for SNAP benefits, with assurances that I would be accepted as a person receiving unemployment benefits. "Stretch your benefit dollars."
I was cut off of unemployment after four months ("we think you are double-dipping").
Still unemployed. After more than a thousand of job applications via that stack of URLs.
Am now re-thinking of applying for SNAP.
My first exposure to street level abuse of food stamps was about 1980. A local dirtbag kid was repeatedly going into 7-11, buying the cheapest thing possible, and paying with a $1 food stamp, building up change to buy ? He got 86ed. so he was outside, buttonholng anyone he thought he could convince to go in and do it tor him. A guy I went to HS with told him “no,” and was fatally stabbed. Dirtbag still lives around here, Carl is still dead.
Imagine the money saved, if soda, beer and wine is removed?
And here is the problem. There are so many who also in the same situation as you. Older folks who just do not make enough a month to get by without some help. Pretty hard to get by on even $1,200 a month when rent on a one bedroom apartment is an average of $1,100 a month. Not everyone has a home paid off to live in.

Wasn’t that the problem that Social Security was supposed to solve?
