RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — President Trump got the royal treatment on his first stop in Saudi Arabia, as white Arabian horses flanked his motorcade — with adviser Elon Musk in tow.
Dozens of Saudis rode on horseback carrying US and Saudi flags as Trump’s motorcade peeled into the Royal Court, where he got a warm welcome before going to a lunch in the palace adorned with chandeliers and marble floors.
“I really believe we like each other a lot,” Trump told reporters after his arrival, referring to Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as a friend.
He later recalled how “impressed” he was when he first met the 31-year-old MbS back in 2017 during their first visit, and how they quickly became friends.
“I like visiting with you, and we’ve known each other very well, and I really believe we like each other a lot,” Trump said.
The president was escorted into the country by six Saudi F-15s bracketing Air Force One, got a 21-gun salute on arrival, and was met with the level of pomp and circumstance that he was met with during his first trip to the kingdom in his first term.
The lunch was attended by members of the Saudi government — as well as a number of tech billionaires and business leaders, including Musk, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg, and more.
Other tech guests included Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Palantir CEO Alex Karp, Google CIO Ruth Porat, Blackstone Group CEO Stephen Schwarzman, Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey, LinkedIn executive chairman Reid Hoffman — and Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.
Musk — who has taken one step back from the Department of Government Efficiency and is largely no longer working from the White House — was spotted shaking hands with MbS.

Saudi Arabia is becoming modern while Erdoğan is regressing in Turkey.
But as an American, at least I can get a beer in Istanbul.
Did ya ever notice there are NO Arabian horses in the movie ‘Lawrence of Arabia’? Or ‘Kingdom of Heaven’, for that matter. Antonio Banderas rides one in ‘The 13th Warrior’ but you’ve got to watch some short takes in slo-mo to spot the tell-tale characteristics.
Guy Pearce has an Arabian in ‘The Convert’ but all it’s ever called is “a horse.” The fact that it’s an Arabian plays no role whatsoever in the plot.
Auda abu Tayi’s prize white stallion wasn’t an Arabian?

IMHO, the best Arabian types are the Polish, followed by the Egyptian (such beautiful heads). The Bedouin types (which these horses look like to me) were always too goofy for my taste. I groomed for an Arabian trainer while I was in college and I bred my Thoroughbred mare to his pure Polish stallion. The result was a perfect rose-gray filly, except she overgrew to 14.3. Argh! If she had just stopped at 14.2, I would have had a $25,000 large pony hunter. Instead I sold her as a $2,500 short stirrup hunter kids’ babysitter.
My stable friends and I went to see The Black Stallion movie way back in the day and were quite amused how the Arabian horse turned into a Thoroughbred once he stepped onto a race track.
Mine was crab bet (had to break the word up because autocorrect kept changing it to crab bait!). Grandson of Khemosabi. I agree, the extreme Egyptian looks ridiculous.

We can see why Musk is the richest man in the world.
Excellent comparison!
LOL! Good one!
Thanks, AW!
A freeper named “deks” may have made it by AI — he or she posted it at #29 in response to a comment suggesting the pairing of Musk and Franklin.
& yet I thanked you for forwarding it to me & I’m not taking it back ;-)
Just belatedly giving credit where credit is due...
Yes, credit to Grok for the representation.
