Must have been one of those bears modern women would prefer to a male human being, for reasons of safety.

An awful way to go...
A serious bear hunting season is needed in FL...
Gators, bears, and pythons are all in need of extinction...

I was in Canada years ago fishing in upper Ontario. Saw bears all the time. But while there heard about a bear that roamed into a Boy Scout camp late at night about 50 miles from where I was and killed a young scout. Apparently, the kid had some food in his tent and the bear decided to take it. The kid kid got in the way and it did not end well.

For the silly urbanites out there who have Walt Disney ideas about wildlife.. Bears are not cute. They are at the top of the food chain unless you have some serious firepower.

the first ursine killing in state history.

Maybe first since the environmentalists swore no wolf, coyote or black bear ever attacked a human.

Add cougars to the list.

An 88-year-old man and a dog were killed in apparently separate bear attacks near the victim's home in Florida, officials said. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call shortly after 7 a.m. Monday involving a "bear encounter." The attacks occurred "some time apart" on Monday, and the man and the dog were found within a couple of hundred yards of the area, according to FWC spokesperson George Reynaud. His daughter saw a bear attack the dog and then went looking for her father, who is believed to have been attacked earlier on Monday, Reynaud said.

Can’t help but think of the bear attack scene in “The Revenant”.

Only one bear may have done the deed, but they shot the whole gang for felony murder. There’s a lesson in here.

Dog could have killed the old man or the old man could have died on his own- bear just cleaning up.
Not likely but not impossible

Two scientists, one from the Czech Republic and one from Austria, travelled to America to study the legendary grizzly bear.

When they failed to return from their first trip into the woods, two park rangers went looking for them and quickly tracked down a male and a female bear who’d been by the scientists’ campsite.

Their apprehension was proven justified when they tranquilized the female grizzly and found the remains of the Austrian.

The first park ranger said sadly, “You know what this means…”

The second ranger replied, “Yes. The Czech is in the male.”

“after seeing a 263-pound bear killing her dad’s dog”
“ unclear whether Markel was killed before or after”
Are you kidding me?
She watched the bear killing the dog, but the guy was in the bear’s stomach. What was “unclear” about the sequence?
