I remember the song said something like "I might do it again" so it was hardly a lesbian rallying cry.

I just looked up the lyrics, and both the girls kissing were dating men, so it was cheating.

Did she spend her final years as a packrat hoarder cat-lady type?

From house fire to eternal fire if she didn’t repent.

Oh, RIP. I thought it was Katy Perry who sang that.

She became a household name with “I Kissed a Girl,” which is widely viewed as the first openly gay-themed tune to make it into the Billboard Top 20.

The Kinks' "Lola" made it to #9 in 1971.

"I'm glad I'm a man and so is Lola."

sounds pretty openly queer to me.

My mother made my big brother return the 45 to the record store.

“Sobule was gearing up for “Jill Sobule presents: Songs From F–k 7th Grade & More” at Swallow Hill Music’s Tuft Theater in Denver, Colorado, on Friday, May 2.”

“The show has been canceled, per the theater’s website. An informal, free gathering will now take place in her honor.”

I’d hope so.

It wasn’t really groundbreaking; Sophie B. Hawkins had a song called “I Wish I Was Your Lover” three years earlier, in 1992. The twist was that she was singing about a woman all along.

How many Boomers think Katie Perry just died? (In case someone else doesn’t know, Perry had an infinitely more catchy, more popular song with the same title about a decade later.)

One of Tiny Timmy Tampon’s constituents. I’ll bet Timmy’s old lady had all the windows in the house wide open to the let in that old smokey smell she loves so much.
