It wasn’t really groundbreaking; Sophie B. Hawkins had a song called “I Wish I Was Your Lover” three years earlier, in 1992. The twist was that she was singing about a woman all along.

I remember the song for how sexually aggressive it was. And she kinda threw off Lesbian vibes, but I don’t recall anything that establishes the song was to a woman.
