A man who reportedly has a warrant for deportation has climbed a tree to escape authorities.
He’s been up there for hours as officers wait below.
News4 has been streaming the incident on Facebook.
According to a statement from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s San Antonio office, ICE, in coordination with the Texas Department of Public Safety, attempted to serve a criminal warrant on a man described as a “criminal alien" on Tuesday.
ICE officials said Raul Ical, a 29-year-old Guatemalan national, was stopped during a traffic stop involving the vehicle in which Ical was a passenger. Ical exited the vehicle and fled on foot, then entered the backyard of a nearby residence and climbed a tree to evade arrest.
Ical previously entered the United States unlawfully on March 27, 2013, and was subsequently removed to Guatemala on April 24, 2013. At an unknown date and time, he reentered the U.S. illegally.
Ical faces federal criminal charges for illegal re-entry after deportation.
A male voice could be heard talking to the man in Spanish, advising him not to get down, “No te bajes, Raul,” the man said.
The man later called out to Ical, “Do you want an attorney?
Ical signaled yes.
The man replied, "OK, we’re going to make them all famous."

I imagine some judge somewhere has already drawn up orders not to deport him again.
Have ICE start placing cylindrical things around the base of the tree...when the illegal asks what they’re doing, say “we’re gonna dynamite it”. He’ll climb down so fast he’ll have splinters
