Mssachusetts would be much better off if the Btitish were running it rather than the filth that are.

I was there on Saturday, and an inescapable part of me was acutely aware of the time of day, and what was going on as I looked at the surrounding countryside, the sky, and the air temperature.

It sure made history seem much more immediate to me.

They didn’t have a re-enactment, but...I wasn’t really there primarily for that. I was there to celebrate the shared values that I have with my fellow Americans.

It was wholly polluted for me by the Leftists, but...I get my enjoyment where I can.

How could they be said to have invaded a place that was legally their own territory?

Idiot writes as if his ancestors living in that same town weren’t themselves British.

One branch of my family knew the cost of neutrality. A former officer from the French and Indian War refused to take sides when the Revolution broke out. The local townspeople tried to lynch him. Driven into exile, he joined the loyalists.

While he was away fighting, his wife fed information to the Americans — protecting the farm and their many children from reprisals. Her actions earned him a pardon. After the war, he returned from exile and served in the North Carolina State Assembly.

Some Tories had their property confiscated and fled to Canada or England. Some came back or weathered the storm. A few even made it back into politics.

One strategy that worked for the Scots and the Irish was for some family members to support the British and others to oppose them. That way whatever happened the family wouldn't lose all its land. It's not surprising if colonial families followed the same strategy.

I recently found out that my 6th great grandfather on my mother’s side fought in the American Revolution. John Hepperd. He was in the Philadelphia/Central Jersey area. His name is on the US government list but does not state rank. My mothers side of the family were all farmers in South Jersey.

This makes me suspect that one of Christopher Bedford’s Tory ancestors fought my ancestors, Moses and Robert, at the Battle of Kings Mountain.

They were British colonices at the time! They had formed every single one of the colonies.

Would have been more interesting if the writer had mentioned that the men at Concord were the great grandfathers of the soldiers from Massachusetts that had left Washington, D.C. on July 21, 1861, and invaded the state of Virginia to meet the Confederate patriots at Bull Run.

They were the brave defenders at Concord, but rolls were reversed in Virginia, when they became the invaders as were the British 85 years earlier.
