A recent photo of the Obama Presidential Center Museum Building is getting brutal reviews, especially so considering it’s in Chicago, a city famous for its stunning architecture.
Still under construction, the building designed by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects features an exterior wrapped in granite panels. It is but one of a number of buildings on the massive 19-acre Obama Presidential Center campus, which has been priced at about $830 million by the Associated Press.

That was the FIRST thing I thought of.
German Flak tower.
kinda apt....enjoy Chicago
Looks like a german flak tower from WW2.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or one of the 1,800 diaolous near Kaiping, Guangdong Province....
Brutalist, soviet era monstrosity.
Obama will love it.
It looks like a North Korean prison, only uglier.
Reminds me of the WW2 flak tower in Berlin.
When in my teens I worked installing concrete swimming pools,I learned quite a bit about concrete and it came in handy when I built my own house later.
Thats why they have so many buildings fail...
Soviet-style brutalist architecture designed to oppress and demoralize.
That building looks a lot better than Obama’s brutalist structure.
Orthanc?
But I’ll bet the house the front faces Mecca!!
Looks like a military fort.
Or maybe an uncircumcised black tip?
Looks like a Soviet ballistic missile early warning radar
Its probably a design given to Obama by Valerie Jarrett.
Kind of reminds me Chicago’s Metropolitan Correction Center, about 6 miles up the road: https://c8.alamy.com/comp/R99HPR/metropolitan-correctional-center-designed-by-harry-weese-R99HPR.jpg. Fitting.
Incomplete tower or some kind.
Looks like 60’s Soviet style...
The Germans managed to build several of those faster than Obama’s library is getting built...
If they did, they failed. The Kadokawa gives you the impression of a massive rock rising from the earth, and the veneer is achieved with a checkerboard of granite of different shades. Stunning.
