Move described as ‘a collective decision’ follows reports that Roger Daltrey was unhappy with ‘drums going boom, boom, boom’ at recent gig.

I was curious to find out if Keith Moon was actually his Uncle. I Also, wanted to refresh myself as to what killed Keith Moon at such a young age. That is what led me to what I shared. 👍
Naw, wasn’t making that suggestion. I was just say’n that I never thought much of Daltrey’s voice, and lately it sounded even worse to me.
No dis on the band, Townshend, Entwistle and especialy Moon, the way I heard them, were the band, and a great band at that.
tt!
I saw only a handful of great bands when I was young. Now that I am older I have been trying to catch as many of the greats as I can before they are gone.
Got it. But I wasn’t thinking you were second-guessing the line-up - I was saying it was crazy for Daltrey to change drummers after 30 years, when the band is on its last leg anyway..
He's kind of old to get his own Yoko, but he's a rock star and it's his band, so he could probably get his girlfriend to bang the drums.
But their 9/!! tribute show was great...
I used to like Daltrey but his voice has been gone for over 20 years now...
Zach’s been playing with them for 25 or so years, so I’m sure there was more to it than that.
Seems to me that Zach was the perfect replacement for Moon in that they are somewhat similar in style (Moon was Zach’s drum teacher).
I actually saw it at the theatre back when it first came out. Shelley Long was in it also.
They kept it going at the time mostly as a favor to John Entwistle who needed the income. He was perpetually broke, spending far more than he made, and would die in debt to the tax man (surrounded by top-shelf Vegas escorts, head buried in a mountain of cocaine).
Why they've kept it going since Entwistle's 2002 passing, I don't know.
But indeed, they should've wrapped it up a long time ago. Roger comes off here looking like Grandpa Simpson complaining that the drums are too loud.
Love Roger Daltrey and I saw The Who a few times in my youth, but it sounds like Roger has reached the “You kids get off my lawn!” stage.
It would be great if any of those young bands existed playing good rock. The only one I know of right now is The Warning and they are 3 Mexican sisters. Look them up, they are the real deal...
The Who 9/11 Concert For New York
Incredible.
Cause Keith Moon took so much animal tranquilizers he passed out. A guy came up out of the fans and helped them finish the concert.+.
Thanks for clarifying. I agree with you.
What is that old saying: “you gotta dance withh the one you brought” - heard that somewhere, too old to remember where.
One of my Favs! One of a few by the WHO that I nailed every time played being a hack drummer myself!! CRank it!!

The irony of that is that Entwistle worked for the tax agency in the UK before becoming a rockstar.
Article the other day said Daltrey is almost deaf now. And bands don’t always give the real reasons for breaking up, I hear.
I saw The Who in about 1985 at the Orlando Stadium. They were fantastic. Attended with 19 other people and 1 poor dude saved general admission seats for everybody and we all arrived 10 minutes before showtime. But he didn’t give in to everyone trying to sit around him. Some people were ticked he was saving so many seats. Near brawls.
Other memory- moronic SOBs at that concert throwing stuff at and booing the B-52s band the main opening band. As a Floridian that was infuriating and embarrassing.
Good times!
It said that the frontman paused their final song, The Song Is Over, and told the audience: “To sing that song I do need to hear the key, and I can’t. All I’ve got is drums going boom, boom, boom. I can’t sing to that. I’m sorry guys.”
Almost sounds like his in-ear monitor mix was bad...like too drum heavy. But he's enough of a pro that he'd know if the issue were the mix or the drumming.
