Interesting! My deceased mother has an old schoolmate that lives in Pocatello, Idaho. Is that in the same part of Idaho that you mention?

I live in Chubbuck...immediately north of Pocatello. Pokey is a Democrat run city with the expected fiscal problems. Chubbuck is a more conservative community and better run by comparison.

Keep standard time and have every state legislature establish its own time zone borders. Any that want “more daylight in the evening” can simply move one time zone to the east. New York would be on Atlantic Time and Chicago would move from Central to Eastern Time, for example.

That is why permanent Daylight Savings Time (Spring Forward / lose an hour) won’t work and why permanent Standard Time (Fall Back / gain an hour) has to become permanent.

I’m fine with the time changes, but the flip from standard to daylight savings is too soon. Move back the switch to standard time to the last Sunday in October, and move the switch to daylight savings time to the last Sunday in March (at a minimum; into April would be fine also).

Yes, I remember that, and that’s why it should be left alone. The current setup isn’t perfect, but it’s a better way of managing the time so that the hours of daylight are more useful to more people. In the summer where I live, a sunset at 8:30 p.m. is more useful than an sunrise at 4:00 a.m.

It was originally conceived to help save on candle expense. Now it just biannually screws up everybody’s circadian rhythms.
