Central and Eastern North Carolina still grow plenty of cotton...Mostly picked mechanically with a harvester...

Oh yes we do. Out in West Texas in Aug or Sept it is beautiful the miles and miles of cotton fields. Mom picked it as a kid, when we grew up she never planted a garden, tough memories that hoeing and picking for a 5 year old.

There were many cotton fields around the Huntsville AL area when I moved here in 2912. But many of them have become housing or commercial developments.

Yes America still grows cotton. You would be amazed at its products. From stealth fighters that evade radar detection, to the glass protector layer screen on your cell phone, all made from cotton seed fibers. (The fuzzy lint surrounding the seed). It’s really a miracle crop. I don’t think we use the boll fibers though. I think that gets exported.
