Trump has always operated on debt. His real estate empire was built on it. Will tariffs pay it off this time? No.

I’m not ok with this. I didn’t think we would print more money.

I wasn’t ok with it when “we” voted to raise the debt ceiling at the end of May 2023.

We have already explained this to you. The debt ceiling is a joke. They score tax cuts as deficit spending when in fact the increase revenue. The whole thing needs to be canned.

PS: hypocrites like Rand Small lament tariff which will automatically decrease the deficit by at least 1/5 ( $1B/day in new revenue ).

I don’t know how or why you do this...

Being in Agreement with McConnell, Murkowski, Collins, every liberal politician and media source....

All to show your distrust of President Trump.

I dont agree with it. Trump and everyone else raged against the amount of Debt Biden racked up. That said, does Trump intend to borrow 5 trillion more? I hope not.

All it means is a longer period before it gets raised again instead of fighting so often.

There isn’t the will to balance the budget in one fiscal year. The debt limit has to be raised. Not my preference but I know the reality of the situation.

They are acting like this Senate version is THE one. It’s way more than the House.
We will see what the final result is.

Those responsible are the ones who ran up the last 5 trillion in debt through excessive spending. That amount of debt didn’t come from the last 2 1/2 months that Trump has been in office.

Relax, the GOP will care about spending and deficits again when they are the minority party in 2027. They will fight like hell in 2029 against President Newsom.

Increasing debt limit by $5 Trillion does not mean $5 Trillion will be spent immediately. May be president Trump wants to have elbow room while tariffs on imports do their job.

Hasn’t the concept of a debt ceiling as a barrier to overspending been discredited?

If it’s a discredited idea, shouldn’t people be setting it aside in favor of devising and developing new ideas for getting FedGov’s fiscal house in order?

As Trump is doing, and encouraging.

Is anyone honestly surprised?

ANYONE?

They passed a CR that cut spendin by a whole $7 Billion out of budget or $7 Trillion... of which $2 Trillion is more debt.

Understand the US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT must cut annual spending by about 28% just to be at the break even point... do you think anyone in the establishment is honestly going to do that? ANYONE?

Currently 13% of the US federal budget is simply for SERVICING EXISTING DEBT INTEREST!.. That’s on par with health care and the military, and will outstrip them both very soon

I am embarrassed by some of the insults thrown in your direction by some of the people in this thread. I do not agree with either Rand Paul or President Trump on everything, but I greatly admire them both. Much of the rancor in this thread is not justified. We should try to stick together as much as possible to beat the irresponsible and corrupt characters on the left, but this does not mean that there is not room for discussion and disagreements.
