Kathleen Turner looked frail as she made a rare public outing in NYC this week - months after her failing health caused her to drop out of a play.
The Body Heat and Romancing The Stone star, 70, looked shaky as she leaned on a walker after stepping away from the spotlight.
For the trip, Turner wore a long, dark overcoat, over a blue sweater, black pants, and black sneakers, as she made her way to an awaiting vehicle with the help of two people

Wow, I turn 70 in 2 months and walked 4+ miles this morning with no issues. Glad I’ve been fairly healthy. But being 70 is definitely downhill.
“Father Time and Mother Nature always win.”
Yes. That would be a good Tag Line!
She has been physically ill for a long time. It’s why she disappeared from the movie scene.
As an 85-year-old woman at my church puts it, “Getting old sucks!”
Wikipedia says she has rheumatoid arthritis.
That’d do it…
Ditto!
Proverbs 31:30 “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”
Other translations use the word ‘fleeting’ instead of ‘vain’....
Yikes! She’s six months younger than me and looks 20 years older!
a 101 year old man was the first person from whom I heard the phrase “getting old isn’t for sissies”. He was a trooper for all he had been through in his life :)
I once heard a quote from an old woman: Young people worry about reaching old age. They shouldn’t worry. It doesn’t last that long.
And I can attest to that. I’m 71 and I swear Christmases flash by as fast as weekends used to.
Oddly, though, individual days seem to last as long as they always did.
My mom used to say “There ain’t no gold in the golden years!”
Boy, don’t I know it!
+1
It’s harsher to those who were higher up on the attractiveness scale. Luckily for me, I’ve always been near the bottom, so I don’t have as far to fall... I’ll always be almost as hot as I ever was!!! Yay me!!
I think it is a byproduct of failing memory. I used to remember everything like a long tunnel when looking back on a year. Now, it's a pretty short tunnel.
I have an old friend who was probably one of the most beautiful women in New England. She packed on at least 75 pounds with multiple back surgeries.
She pool exercised regularly and has been pretty strong.
I recently ran into her after about 10 years. . I did not recognize her.
She is on the north end of 300+ pounds and her previously lovely face was a bit distorted.
Many people gain a bit of weight as they age. Some gain lots.
LOL…that’s the spirit!
She went downhill fast starting 30 years ago, which is why you haven’t seen her in anything for many years now.
Time gets us all, but her slide was rapid and career ending...
She prematurely aged by the early ‘90s with health, alcohol and weight problems. She worked hard to look acceptable for Undercover Blues.
Very unfair.
I remember as a kid how summers seemed to last forever (and grew up in Minnesota). Now they go fast (even living in an area with longer summers).
I think it has to do with the fact that back as a 10 year old, summer lasted 1/30th of my lifetime. Now they last 1/1500 of my life.
