The Yankees had an MIT physicist design a "torpedo" bat for them and they've now hit 15 homers in 3 games

Thursday, on Opening Day, the Yankees hit two home runs against the Brewers in a 4-2 victory. Saturday, in the second game of the series, they hit nine homers in a 20-9 walloping of the Brew Crew, three of them coming on the first three Brewers' pitches.

Sunday, they hit four more, tying the record for most home runs hit in the first three games of a season (15).

And sure, they were playing the Brewers, but you gotta think something is going on here, right?

Well..

Yes, they redesigned the bat to put more wood where the bat makes contact with the ball.

And it's completely legal!

But of course people are whining about it -- it's the Yankees, so why wouldn't they?

Even Dave Portnoy got in on the action (wearing a Red Sox hat, of course).

"Unbiased rant"!! 🤣🤣🤣 To be fair, it's Portnoy's Barstool Sports up there mocking fans for crying about the bats.

So fans are going to be mad at these bats because it's the Yankees, other teams will then adjust their bats to match the greatness of these new "torpedo bats" -- turning baseball into a much more entertaining sport -- and then in about ten months we'll have a ban on the bats.

It'll be fun while it lasts! Also, I thought this was hilarious, so I'm leaving it here:

Trying to do the same thing they did to football. More points means better - right? If this stay in place pitchers will basically be fodder and you’ll be hard pressed to see another dominate pitcher like Ryan, Rivera, Gossage, Gibson, Maddox, Clemens, Sale, Smoltz etc... Might as well put a machine out there and throw the ball down the middle.

I’m old school. They should have to use actual bats...I mean the little flying animals that live in caves—not these wooden clubs!

The story is BS. Judge doesn't use the torpedo bat and has hit 4 homeruns. Secondly, the picture is FAKE NEWS! That is not what the bat looks like. Thirdly, the bat is within the specifications of MLB rules. Fourthly, Dave Portnoy is a idiot and is making an idiotic argument.

Dumbass Argument: If I grab a bat and don't do well with it because it may be too heavy, or the handle is too thick if I change to another bat and do better that has a thinner handle and is lighter did I cheat? All the bats the Yankees are using are LEGAL.

What makes for an “experimental bat”? Something that doesn’t conform to those specs?

In Major League Baseball, bats must be made from a single piece of solid wood—commonly ash, maple, or birch—with no aluminum or composite materials allowed. The bat’s total length cannot exceed 42 inches, and the diameter at its thickest part is limited to 2.61 inches. While there isn’t a strict weight requirement specified by MLB, most players consider the bat drop—the difference between the bat’s weight in ounces and its length in inches—when selecting a bat to ensure proper balance and swing mechanics. Additionally, any modifications such as corking or assembling the bat from multiple pieces of wood are strictly prohibited.

Yes, they are legal.

Any other team can make their own just as they did.

That pic was a joke....................

and most of the team’s offensive production in Milwaukee came from guys using normal bats.

This tidbit wont make headlines.

5 years ago, the left was assuring us that the china virus was from bats.

Yesterday’s game was interesting.

After Judge hit a home run in the first inning the Brewers gave up pitching to him and walked him the next three times.

Unfortunately for them the next batter (Jazz Chisolm) hit two home runs and Judge ending up scoring four runs by the time the game was over.

If Jazz stays hot it could be a long season for Yankee opponents.

>>Pitch inside and that bat is worthless.<<

Pitching inside has been on the downswing for years. This might bring it back. Outside pitches may have the same beneficial effect.

That design has a much smaller sweet spot, so best for the biggest boppers’ homeruns, but seemingly worse for for more average hitters. Yankees specialize in boppers.

> Its illegal. MLB bats must follow specific specifications.

The Yankees and the Dodgers are the Democrats of MLB, the rules only apply to the other 28 teams.
