> Harvard University defined healthy aging as reaching 70 without any chronic diseases <
70? Does Harvard classify someone who’s 70 as aged? I think 80 would be a much more reasonable number. I know quite a few 70-ish folks who could probably knock that author around in a boxing ring pretty good.
Make it to 80 without any major problems, and you’ve been either careful or lucky. Maybe both.
“70? Aged?”
No kidding! I’m insulted!
I was told if you reach 70 without major health issues, you can go to 90
In a couple of months, I celebrate my 77th birthday. My doctor quoted this to me from the book of Psalms,
“Psalm 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten, or even by reason of strength fourscore years; Yet is their pride but labor and sorrow; For it is soon gone, and we fly away.”
So, not matter how long we live, it is a short ride compared to what comes next.
Statistically by the time one reaches 70 35 to 40 percent of one’s age cohort has died from all causes.
70 is old.
70 & healthy? Heck I will be celebrating my 85th birthday on a cruise next week. I have no medical issues. I can break my age for 18 holes on most public golf courses. Private courses are usually more challenging.
“Make it to 80 without any major problems, and you’ve been either careful or lucky. “
Yeah, closing in on 89, and most of my ailments are damage related from early years.
Or, pushing my carcass too much with weights. Tendons are easy to screw up wehn you get older it seems.
