I won't connect my dishwasher to your stupid cloud

I don't recommend the Bosch 500 series. It's dumb.

Sadly, it seems all appliance manufacturers are going this route. Where will we be in 5-10 years next time I need to buy a new dishwasher? Probably even worse off.

We still have the 60 years old refrigerator with the round hat motor up on the top. Sure it needs a few days defrosting every six months, but I need that time off my phone and smart apps now and then to catch up on the important stuff.

Speed Queen. 100%. There’s usually a waiting list of six months, but we’ll worth it.

Plus the enviros will eventually want to control your power and water usage and hours of operation.

I’m sorry sphinx, you have exceeded your laundry allowance for the week.

My Grandma used one of these, and a wringer. Never a problem, unless the wind blew really hard. The author is unknown.

Is a washboard better than a washing machine?
A washboard is better for hand washing/delicates than machine settings. It gets more dirt/grime out of socks and such. (Muddy or greasy clothes etc. People have laughed thinking it’s novelty and I’ve told them it’s necessary, usable, and well loved.Nov 11, 2022

We do dishes by hand since we moved here in 2018. I remodeled the kitchen and decided we just didn’t need one. While we are cooking we clean as we go.

The other place we cheat with paper plates and a burn pit. Do pots and pans in the wash tub. We do have indoor plumbing though.

Trisodium phosphate is getting hard to find. So is Alcor TCP.

Buy Speed Queen. They mfg commercial equipment and you can get a robust bullet proof unit. My washing machine (not Speed Queen) is new, but not wifi new. Damn thing hops all over the washroom when washing sheets or other large loads.

“Where will we be in 5-10 years next time I need to buy a new dishwasher? Probably even worse off.”

A smart capitalist will set up a factory in El Salvador to manufacture and build dumb dishwashers. Their tattooed prison inmates can work-in the factory.

Export them to the USA. Part of the deal will be that for every 30 dishwashers we buy, El Salvador will accept/imprison one rotten illegal alien criminal with neck n face tattoos

I’m so jealous! We’ve had to replace our washer, dryer, and dishwasher several times in the last decade and a half. I keep my eyes peeled for estate sales that have older appliances, but they’re hard to come by. I refuse to have my kitchen and laundry appliances connected to the internet. NO THANKS.

Yeah... My Samsung stove and refrigerator have wifi... Why is the biggest question. Totally asinine except for the tech freaks that can’t open the refrigerator door to see what they need, they need an app to do so. My whole house generator is wifi, another dumb ass idea. I put a kill switch in it and a manual transfer switch. When the power is out I go out and start it then manually switch over. I did install a green light to let me know when power has been restored... Nothing fancy just common sense.

I’d like to start a company called TEC that does TECH FREE CARS. Bring your technology infotainment nightmare car in and we remove the tech BS and give you a car you drive with a radio. My 75 Vette is more reliable than the wife’s 2024 Volvo. I don’t have to lock the doors and wait 90 minutes for a SW update, do touch screen crap to get the heater to work, tell the radio to start playing etc. I get in and drive. I could rewire the entire Vette with 3 20’ extension cords.

If you’re a good engineer, you can dumberize them quite a bit (aside from just not allowing them to go online). The problem comes in when the basic engineering is shoddy and cheaped out. That’s a lot harder to fix.

Most stuff comes with surveillance state wifi connections for those who, for some odd reason, want to operate their stuff while out of the house.

I believe that feature can be disabled by simply not activating it or, in the extreme case you can’t, block it from the router.

I have a refrigerator/freezer in my garage I bought in Nov 1965 for about $235. Have moved it 4 times, not counting the delivery from the store.

Works fine. Have a 1972 upright freezer in the kitchen. Works fine. Used almost every day.

Bought new REAL MAYTAG washer/dryer when I moved into this house in March 2005-—over 20 years ago, & I will take it with me if I go anywhere else. 2 of the LAST REAL MAYTAG’S before Whirlpool bought them & RUINED THE NAME,.
Had prior Maytag over 30 years.

Was the new washer a front loader???

IF SO-—YOU HAVE TO LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS WHEN DONE USING TO LET THE INTERIOR DRY OUT-—OR MOLD GETS INVOLVED.

I found out my commode makes a long distance call when I pee. I wonder what that’s about?

Tri sodium polyphosphate NOT TSP. poly not mono makes a big difference

You can buy it at soapgoods.com and a number of sellers on Amazon

Also good to pray that no birds hit the window!

We have a Speed Queen laundry set we bought about three or four years ago. Happy with them, but we missed the last of the completely mechanical ones by about a year. Even so, the mechanical build quality is solid and I’m a controls engineer so if the controls die, I can put them back even dumber and more robust than they were when we got them. So far so good though.

I have a Bosch and I love it. But not connected to anything but the water. My daughter got a new stove and she was supposed to connect it, but she didn’t. Why in the world do we have to share our entire lives with the world?
