I won't connect my dishwasher to your stupid cloud

I don't recommend the Bosch 500 series. It's dumb.

Sadly, it seems all appliance manufacturers are going this route. Where will we be in 5-10 years next time I need to buy a new dishwasher? Probably even worse off.

We are fortunate. The place is big. The bedroom is 16 x 20 with 2 huge walk-in closets.

I wish it was in the biggest one but no outlets. One outlet in the smaller one but it’s cramped.

The entire apartment is 1275 sq ft.

I just started a small business, seriously!

I find and recondition simple appliances and sell them cheaply. I get these appliances for free.

Business is booming!

It would be like Heaven to start seeing beautiful bold muscle-type cars again. Cars that have unique styles, and more colors than black, white, and grey.

"The entire apartment is 1275 sq ft."

My two bedroom apartment is 850 sq. ft. I have central air, which I never had before moving here, and will never give up. They'll have to carry me out of here.

Product marketing executives and lawyers. Most people don’t realize the deleterious effect of corporate and industry lawyers. They are into everything.

My solution is older dumb appliances with no built in electronics. But superior loaded computers such as 2023 OptiPlex still in warranty with 15-12500 CPU with dual DisplayPort. Why do few laptops have DisplayPort?

We have a Bosch ECOsense d/w purchased in 2008, when we renovated the kitchen. The Bosch has never required even one replacement part and works perfectly after 19 years, as long as we periodically clean out the apertures in the spray arms and pop-out drain filters. No chimes, bells or whistles. It gets a lot of use. The controls are just basic electronics. Nothing fancy. It does not do waste disposal as some do. We scrape and then quick rinse everything before it goes in. If/when it goes, we will buy another Bosch. Like everything else in life, you can make stuff last longer with basic care.

I bought a new smart washer recently. I tried to connect to the could but I reversed the wiring.

Now I can control the global internet from a rinse cycle. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

I have a Hunter sprinkler system for my yard. A few years ago I bought the wifi adapter so I could control the zones from my phone instead of having to go to the control box in my garage.

Another selling point was being able to connect my sprinkler to my backyard weather station so it can adjust the watering times based on the weather: adding time when it's hot and canceling a watering when it's raining.

All was well until they pushed the latest app update. They deprecated the prior version and forced me to install the current version. This version moved the feature to connect to my backyard weather station to a subscription level, and now I have to either pay to use a built-in feature that I already own and used for several years, or continue with the free version that gets it weather from the airport to 30 miles away.

That's the new landscape of internet-connected devices, they are becoming new storefronts for revenue. It started with automobiles with features like remote start and air-conditioned seats, and now it's spreading to everything else.

Pretty soon, everything we buy will come with only basic features activated, and the "luxury" features will be available with subscriptions.

Yup.

Its how they make all appliances now. Fridges, washers, dryers, etc. The less computer boards in them the better.

Why do few laptops have DisplayPort?

Because a lot of laptops use a wireless protocol like MiraCast to wirelessly connect to new TV's, monitors, or Roku devices. It's how I use my laptop to connect to the TV on the wall at the church when I lead a small group, or how I connect to my Roku to display my laptop on my TV when I want to talk about the budget with my wife.

Even SQ can make a bad unit from time to time, but most repair techs will tell you that the SQs are the way to go. They *do* have a couple consumer models that aren’t as good as the rest, but that’s easily solved by buying a commercial/industrial one.

Why do dishwashers take so long to wash dishes?
I can do them all by hand in 20 minutes.
