I’m not pro Iran. I’m pro not walking into a catastrophe where thousands of American troops, tens of thousands of Israelis and countless Iranians die. Iran went underground 40 years ago KNOWING Israel and the U.S. would one day do what is contemplated now. Iran has a very strong and robust retaliatory capability and it can’t be effectively taken out. Who knows how many facilities like this they have. How many does it take to retaliate?

I went to college with a bunch of Iranian Midshipmen. Most of them were OK. When the revolution started and they took hostages they were kicked out of the country.

The “good ones” were able to get out of Iran and they were back at the school as civilians within a year. They had horrible stories.

The “Bad ones” were all about the revolution and went back and went to war for years against Iraq.

The Persian people are generally good people. But they don’t have the means (the guns) to take out the IRG. I don’t think it would take much to topple the Ayatollahs.

But, that said, only a moron would attempt anything but a bombing and economic campaign against them. The geography of that country is pretty nasty.

For decades, the US and Israel have been surveilling and developing effective counter measures for Iran's tunneling program. Iran's vaunted "retaliatory capability" against Israel was mostly dismantled by Israel's attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon and by the bombing of Iran's rocket fuel production facility.

Iran is actually weaker and more vulnerable now than a year ago. That explains why Iran is touting empty rocket casings and launchers in a tunnel that Israel or the US can blast into rubble at will.

Hummm, I think there are a number of satellites with lidar, ground-penetrating radar and hyperspectral imaging capabilities. Tunnels would be hard to hide, not impossible though.
