Reform UK leader Nigel Farage put on a brave face this week, as he sought to put a blazing row with one of the party's now suspended MPs behind him.
The party is still neck-and-neck with Labour in the polls, and on Monday, it showed off 29 councillors who had recently defected to Reform UK.
While Farage acknowledged there had been "a little bit of turbulence", he stressed the upset was "very much at the edges".
But does the disquiet within the party go deeper than he suggested?
Divisions have become more acute in a party that now boasts more than 200,000 members and 400 local branches across the country.
Much of the anger is directed at Farage and Reform's chairman, Zia Yusuf, over their efforts to professionalise the party.
The party is being more ruthless in its vetting of candidates. It's also investigating - and in some cases expelling - members because of their activity on social media.
Farage is said to be desperate to avoid another election campaign where he faces constant questioning about the controversial comments of his candidates.

It may be necessary because you have to assume they're Labour Party Activists trying to make Reform look bad.
They may be working clandestinely for MI6.
So if you break Farage's rules, you're out of the party.
Prayers up for the UK to break free of the Deep State, expel the invaders, and re-establish itself as a great nation again.
The BBC/Labour alliance is tough to overcome. No 1st amendment. Then you have the Tories who would rather see Labour in control than Reform. No doubt they are at work too.
This seems to be the likely trajectory now.
There are enough Conservative voters who will vote for the party out of their habit. They're Tories because their parents and grandparents were Tories.
Nigel Farage has a deep seated hatred of Tommy Robinson...and that makes Farage questionable at the very least.
What a disaster for Farage, having the most incredible increase in his party in the history of england.
What will the press write to smear him this time.
They can create whatever reality and spin they like
“Even if Reform wins 45% of the seats in the Parliament, Labour will simply form a coalition with the Tories to shut out Reform out of the government in 2029.”
A copy of the American left, RINO and deep state strategy since the emergence of the Tea Party.
Nigel Farage is not considered an upper-class aristocrat. He comes from a middle-class background; his father was a stockbroker. While he attended Dulwich College, a prestigious private school, his career pathâworking in the City of London as a commodities trader before entering politicsâaligns more with the upper-middle class than the aristocracy. He does not come from a titled or landowning family, which are key markers of the British aristocracy.
My guess is that Nigel Farage sees Tommy Robinson as a “hooligan”.
Yeah England seems doomed for sure any way you look at it. They were already drowning so they embraced an anchor and handed control to Labour
If I'm in England, I'll get out.
Credit to Meghan Markle, she got Harry off the island.
“Should not have gone after Lowe.” Exactly right.
Farage seems to be to be trying to walk a tightrope of trying to take advantage of the sentiment of a large block of voters who are fed up to the gills with all the Muslims the Labour Party is bringing into the UK and, on the other hand, not offending the polite society (mainstream journalists, etc.) who will try to paint Farage as an out-of-touch extremist. So, he will not say anything good about Tommy Robinson and has recently butted heads with Rupert Lowe on immigration matters (Lowe has taken a harder line on immigration than Farage). I’m not so sure the tightrope act is going to work for Farage.
Seems like Musk's assessment of Farage is correct. He's simply not "the guy".
Sometimes you have it.
Sometimes you don't.
You needed the BBC propaganda to defeat the real Nazis in WW 2 but 80 years later you don’t need it to prop up the existing authoritarian government in the UK.
“Musk’s assessment of Farage ... He’s simply not “the guy”.”
I had forgotten about that. Good point. Farage simply may not be able to get across the goal line. (I have nothing against Farage and I like him. I was very pleased with his efforts for Brexit.)
Farage is absolutely despicable for turning his back on a UK citizen for speaking out on government corruption.
Not sure Harry is better off, heck of a price to pay
Harry paid a a king's ransom.
It'll have to be somebody like Tommy Robinson. But the British government will never let him out of prison.
