Sad news . He was active right up until the end . R.I.P.
I used to live by the beloved Dirty Water.
Now [for a very long time], not so much.
Great pop song.
Possibly the greatest guitar riff of all time?
There is nothing quite like being at Fenway Park and singing “Dirty Water” with Red Sox Nation.
One of the greatest garage rock songs ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5apEctKwiD8
I was 12 in 1966 and in a garage band , my first . I played drums and the only song I sang was Dirty Water .
Still play the drums , but don’t sing , not even in the shower .
Oops - I’d just turned 14 not 12 !
Remember it well !
Great group, too.
I breifly and casually scrolled past this post yesterday.
When i went to bed last night, and for the first time in a long time i clicked on the streaming Munsters channel on Roku and there they were, The Standells, a band that i have never heard of before.
The day before in a conversation i brought up out of the blue a discussion of electric carving knives and how they were the rage back in the 70’s but you don’t see them anymore.
2 hours later on tv i see a woman using an electric carving knife.
We live in a computer simulation... :)
