The Cheesecake Factory is eliminating 13 menu items in major makeover

Say your final farewells to the “Loaded Mashed Potato Omelette,” because it’s one of the more than dozen menu items that the Cheesecake Factory has eliminated from its menu as part of a broader shakeup.

The Cheesecake Factory’s massive, spiral-bound menu, which has more than 250 items, is perhaps the most recognizable trademark of the company, but it undergoes a yearly change to keep diners coming back. That has helped the chain buck overall weakness in the casual dining sector in which only a few have been able to successfully crack the code — notably, Chili’s — while others have fallen into bankruptcy or continue to struggle.

“We’ve changed the menu twice a year, every year, for 40 years,” founder David Overton said in a 2017 interview. “That’s what keeps people interested. And it keeps us current. We don’t rest on our laurels. There’s nothing that America wants to eat that can’t go on the Cheesecake Factory menu.”

As part of this shakeup, the chain is ditching 13 menu items:

Everything Flatbread Pizza, Mushroom Burger, Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, White Chicken Chili, Spicy Cashew Chicken, Bistro Shrimp Pasta, Fried Shrimp Platter, Petite Filet, Factory Combinations, Loaded Mashed Potato Omelette, Taco Dorados and Egg, SkinnyLicious Lemon Herb Parmesan Chicken, SkinnyLicious Spicy Shrimp Pasta

But shrinkflation isn’t eating into its novel-like menu. The Cheesecake Factory is replacing the ousted items with about 20 new foods and cocktails, plus it’s getting into the “mocktail” trend. Some notable new menu items are inspired by TikTok, like the Asian Cucumber Salad that took over people’s feeds last year. Others have been pulled from its fast food rivals, like the Double Smash Burger.

This place is great on value of money. The portions are huge for a very low price. I’m amazed they can stay in business. I’m glad they figure out that by feeding people for pennies will get people to repeat visit.

Cheap as hell for the amount of food you get.

I know. Just a chain place, yet so easy to drop $60-80 and it’s not even upscale fine dining. Make me remember my Grandpa grumbling “prices these days...” lol, and that was the 1970s.

I find their huge menu to be overwhelming, so I usually order the Shepherd’s Pie and a Killian’s Ale. I haven’t been there in a long time because it’s at a mall I don’t go to anymore.

Never much liked it in there - tables too close together so you have to listen to everyone else’s private conversations, watch what they’re eating, etc.

Also vastly overpriced.

Went there once. Won’t again. Food was good, but tiny portions and very, very slow service.

“How does a restaurant keep ingredients for 250 menu items in stock?”

The Cheesecake Factory is a ‘must-do’ for lunch for myself and my 3 BFFs when we have our semi-annual shopping sprees. We’ve never had a bad meal there...and we split a piece of cheesecake four ways for dessert. ;)

Buzzfeed spent a day in one of their kitchens. It appears that everything is made fresh, that they have really loyal kitchen staff and chefs and that prep work is the key.

Chinese newlyweds on their wedding night, the man wants 69, and the woman says, “you want beef with broccoli?!”

Misleading headline. Ok, they’re deleting 13 items, but they’re also adding 20 items, so says the article.

Cheesecake Factory is a wonderful business. Their food is great, prices are reasonable, and their decor is fun. Servers are attentive and efficient. Their physical menu is a long time trademark for the company and works very well. All of these statements are proven by the fact that this company is very profitable and is a great business investment. It’s hard to find anything wrong with this company.

You actually READ the article? That’s not SOP around here!

Yes, I know. I posted it for the irony of it all and the author trying to start a panic. ;)

“the irony of it all and the author trying to start a panic.”

We readers have two problems: (1) most news is slanted, deceptive, partial, and sensational-sounding, (2) It’s too verbose. You have to read, read, read, to get to what the article’s title claims.
