A waiter and waitress at two different separate Mexican restaurant were fired after refusing service to MAGA supporters, sparking a heated debate over politics in the workplace.
We dive into the fallout, the restaurant’s response, and what this means for free speech and customer rights.

“That was not the point and you know it”
Not your post.
Like Michael Jordan said (paraphrase): Republicans eat tacos too. It is silly to discriminate against half of your potential customers in most cases. It is worse now in the era of social media when this stuff, including the name of the owners and the address etc, spreads wide and fast. The possible logical exception would be a place where it is almost entirely dependent on one ideology eg “the democrat social club”.
You generally can discriminate (depending on the state) for political reasons. There is no federal ban. But in California and perhaps other states it is illegal. That is because California passed a law in the 1950’s to protect communists. But to avoid being pigeonholed they kept the law open to any political discrimination. So you can’t eject a D or R or anyone for political reasons. This is why Gina Carano (actress) is likely to win her lawsuit against Disney. Elon Musk is financing her suit. Disney lets lunatics say wherever they want without repercussions but Carano, who isn’t even that politically conservative, got fired from a hit show expressly for what she said politically. Disney is trying to make a first amendment freedom of association argument so we’ll see where it ends. Both sides may want to take the case as far as it can go. Both sides have more than enough cash to finance the battle so it may well get either to CA SC or USS C.

Ummmmm
No
You missed the point, as usual
“You missed the point, as usual”
The point was what a good manager would do. I didn’t miss it.
Which of my points do you disagree with?
“as usual”
Thanks for admitting you are just trolling me and not interested in meaningful dialog.
You mean, like, hot sauce in your purse? /Hillary
“as I live in a deep blue city and I don’t want my food poisoned,”
Hell of a thing to live in fear. How do you sleep at night knowing the people who live around you might just want you dead?
It was this way where I once worked with a defense contractor. Then one day the Magic Negro was elected, and there was dancing in the aisles by some at work. No one was fired or reprimanded. If anything, no one was allowed to complain about their actions.
😄
The best Mexican restaurant (and actually the best restaurant) in Oneonta AL plays country music. Owner is a legal immigrant. I go there often...good food!
I don’t live in fear as I don’t go around randomly spouting my politics.
I am one of the most political people you will ever meet, but I don’t force it on anyone else.
Like President Trump, I try to avoid war, but I do have the means to protect myself, if necessary.
I can protect myself. I just said I don’t want to have to kill someone. It doesn’t mean I won’t do it if attacked.
I am 63 and I take any type of violence directed at me as potentially fatal and will react accordingly.
Went to a Mexican restaurant down the road from me that had a nice set up inside but seemed to be always empty.
As soon as we got in there was only one table that was filled and it was all obvious Mexicans.
We got such glaring, icy looks we turned around and left. Now I don’t know if they didn’t want us because we were obviously white or we walked in on a terrorist meeting or what. The place WAS open for business and it was no mistaking they did not want us there.
I suppose there could be other reasons but I still wonder about that.
The place is now closed.
Great.
I am a small business owner. I don’t turn away any business regardless. Wasn’t it Michael Jordan who said, “Republicans buy shoes too.”
I don’t let any restaurant worker or healthcare person know my politics. There are too many crazy leftists out there.
When asked "Who did you vote for?" or "Did you vote for Trump".....
Just say say, "I killed my wife and her beta male lover....did 3 years....can't vote.
I don’t usually start political conversations at work but if
someone else does I let them know my thoughts.
I was just at a trade show with several colleagues. Most of us lean conservative. One woman is more independent and leans a bit left.
When we left she gave me a hug in the parking lot and called me her favorite Republican. I went to my truck and grabbed my MAGA hat then hugged her again to laughs all around.
