I thought it was a bit expensive for what they offer. Some shows Sling had were free on other “channels,” but Sling offered more sports.
Utilize the free trial period if they offer one.
If you want sports (which I don't) then you'll want another TV app.
Sling is more affordable too, I was paying $40/month for Sling Blue (which includes the news channels) but price was just raised to $45/month although new subscribers should get a lower locked-in price.
Anyway, I'm happy with Sling TV.
We had it for a short time, but we use Tubi, Pluto, and FreeVee more.
Isnt sling tv $45-60 or per mth?
Ive been happy with amazon prime which is $15 per mth plus you get expedited deliveries.
I subscribed because I wanted to watch Jessie Waters...and Gutfeld. It seemed like the cheapest way. So far works fine - I watch on my laptop.
I have it. Like it.
Absolutely, it’s great to get only the channels you want. I’m going to sound like a salesman because I love this thing. You can get just blue or just orange packages, or both. But even better, you should buy and AirTV Anywhere, connect it to antenna, and then you have a lifetime free 500 hour DVR with all your local channels. Depending on where you live you can get a lot channels. We have 45 over the air in Cincinnati. AirTV works through your Sling App for free, meaning it works without a subscription. You can watch all locals and DVR recordings anywhere in the world! We absolutely love it. And you can pause sling packages for up to three months. The cheapest place to get the AirTV Anywhere is here, https://www.ontechsmartservices.com/products/airtv-anywhere
I have heard that Sling let’s you do that.
I would love to re-subscribe, but it’s a little too much money right now.
I recommend it.
Have you tried Roku Live TV?
They have hundreds of free channels.
It depends what you want out of a live TV streaming provider.
Sling does not have network TV channels. So, one has to use an antenna to get the local channels (or bootleg IPTV). Even with it, there obviously one has no DVR for network shows.
Sling's DVR is very limited compared to live TV providers, which have unlimited DVR service. When I had it, one gets 50 hours.
Sling for about a month. So far so good. Wife is the primary tv watcher here and she hasn’t complained much. Added Heartland ($6.00/mo) so she could get her Gunsmoke *grin*. We’re also using several free streaming services (Pluto, Tubi, Freevee - commercials) with no problems. The mute button works just fine for the commercials.
She was used to Cox and I shut them off about a month ago. She’s getting used to the new menus.
Connection now is IdeaTek optical fiber which has been glitch-free so far. The speed is the lowest available, 100M. Nothing here spools/buffers/pixelates/whatever. We don’t game. If I see any pixelation I will bump the speed up.
Use Amazon Firesticks here, have three. They are the TV interface to the internet, work fine. We both have Prime accounts so there’s that too.
Two TVs are up all day. I also have five computers running 24/7.
I’m looking to do something similar, but I would need it on 3 different TV’s in the house. My wife is not going to use a computer to watch TV.
I pay $49 a month just to watch FOX News shows. For me, that is expensive.
Every service gives you ALMOST everything you want.
Sling was great when it was $26 a month. But all of these services have gone beyond my interest in paying for them. I didn’t cut the cable so I could go back to paying $80 a month. They just keep continually jacking up the rates. Hulu Live I thought had the best services, but I cut them off when they went up to $70. I think they’re over $80 now.
I watch things on Sling Freestream.
A lot of local news channels, CBS 2 in Chicago I like.
Three Stooges channel 24/7, America’s Test Kitchen, and Tastemade Travel/Cooking channel are things I watch some of.
As far as the pay side, I give Sling credit for two things, in most areas you do not have to pay for locals which rewards people for having a OTA antenna.
Secondly, they have broken the predatory cable bundle into two “skinny” bundles which gives people some choice.
The IDEAL thing would be to have TRUE ala carte programming in line with the Liberty Mutual commercial “only pay for what you need.”
I too don’t have cable and frankly don’t miss anything in it.
Sling works fine...use a Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire device or a smart TV, etc. to stream it (you have to have a decent Internet connection to stream quality video (min. 8-10 Mb down/1 up).
Sling TV = Dish Network and Dish was recently purchased by DirectTV unfortunately.

Sling “Blue” has Fox News.
I had Sling when it was $25/month then they started to raise prices and I cancelled when in the $40’s. They had all the movie franchises but otherwise the shows are the same you can find on the free Pluto tv and Tubi.
Sling has a FREE version so you can try that out.
