No kidding! I recently saw a helicopter hovering with one skid on a high tension power line doing some task-I know that is old hat for them, but...it looked crazy to me!
I tallest thing I ever climbed was the 80 foot tower to the Slide for Life at Benning. I was white-knuckled the entire way up. Sliding down the cable was much more fun.
A friend owns some radio sites. If a tower starts with a pyramidal base, I can do 80 feet, easy. When it necks down to about 16”, it messes with my head, even though I know that the tower routinely gets subjected to 100+ mph winds. If I start on a 16” tower, it’s not a problem, but I think his towers that start at that size are only about 40 feet tall.
Yeah 40 ft seems doable, but I remember climbing the 40 ft tower to some kind of 12 ft high beam with a set of stairs in the middle that you walked in the slid down a cable at the end. I was white knuckled on the climb, but the beam was simple except for those stupid three steps up and down in the middle.
I’ll bet...coming down seems like it would be easier, safer, and more fun, but climbing that 80 foot ladder!
Did they have any kind of safety mechanism as you climbed up other than “Don’t screw up and fall!”?
Oh, hell no. Would have been nice. Just folks at the top to help pull you up and then send you back down the cable.
I have noticed that youtubes are more tolerant of opinion these days.
I think it was my calling democrats ‘retards’ on an MSNBC video that got me locked for 24 hours from commenting.
I actually do like it enough to pay the subscription so, no commercials…except for the ones that posters put in the videos. (not many)
It’s google and it’s spying.
I go to Rumble too.
Hahahaha...probably part of the “weeding out” process...:)
I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK.......
