Happy Washington's Birthday!
February 22! Cherry pie!
Remember when we made construction paper Hatchets?
Read his stories aloud?
Admired him?
Don't let them take our holidays , stories and culture away!
I think the stories help us connect to our child innocence... and see the world more clearly and more hopefully....
No matter what dragon we are battling...
Would have been My Parents 78th Wedding Anniversary.
? Like fresh moss growing on it ?
Yes I can remember that.
And I can remember my children, in elementary school, drawing pictures of both Lincoln and Washington, in February, and pictures drawn by children being displayed in their school.
It’s hard to believe now , but these events happened in a public school in California.

Not hard for me! We did this in our (California) elementary school as well.
February was such a special month! Still winter, but with two Presidents’ birthdays, plus Valentine’s day!
We also made cherry blossom trees using black construction paper for the trunks and branches and pink tissue paper for the blossoms.
The log was textured and sat in green grass with little icing flowers. Some fancy ones had an ax too
A double special day for you.
Actually 4 Presidents had February birthdays. William Henry Harrison’s birthday was Feb. 9 and Ronald Reagan’s birthday was Feb. 6.

George Washington cherry pie w/ pastry hatchets.
My deceased Dad used to call today “George Birthington’s Wash-day.”
New!
A true dad joke
