U.S. President Donald Trump is preparing to dissolve the leadership of the U.S. Postal Service and absorb the independent mail agency into his administration, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.

The newspaper, citing six people familiar with the plans, reported that Trump is expected to issue an executive order as soon as this week to fire the members of the Postal Service's governing board and place the agency under the control of the Commerce Department.

Those things are starting to pop up around here as well.

Postal carriers are too lazy to deliver mail to your house any more.

When was the last time you saw a mailman walking his route with a bag full of mail?..............

An added benefit besides saving tons of tax dollars........
the USPS has been too chummy w/ Dem candidates
And seems to aid and abet voter fraud via mail-in ballots.

IIRC, It was G. Gordon Liddy that used to have a radio show in the mornings and he would tell the story of when he was a young man working at the local post office he was told by superiors to SLOW DOWN because he was making the other guys look bad.............

When ordering merchandise online I always try to verify who the carrier will be......if it’s USPS I always try to find the item elsewhere that uses practically ANYBODY but usps.

We once mailed a payment to a credit union literally across town and it never reached the destination.

Absolutely unacceptable.

“he was told by superiors to SLOW DOWN because he was making the other guys look bad”

After I got laid off in private sector aerospace and was picked up by the DoD I had coworkers approaching me telling me the same thing......”slow down new guy, your making us look bad”.

At that time, being probationary “career conditional”.....I complied. 😏

The price of postage stamps killed sending cards and letters to loved ones.

Yes the Post Office is horrible, I have a daughter who lives in Sacramento CA, I live in Texas. It takes 8-10 days for a first class letter or card to be delivered to her or me getting letter from her.

I think the Pony Express was faster.

On the other hand, the people in the Newport WA post office which serves my 83822 zip code have always been pleasant and easy to work with.

“When was the last time you saw a mailman walking his route with a bag full of mail?”

Actually not too long ago in my step mother’s neighborhood but other than that I can’t remember the last time.

Also, I like the cluster boxes for security purposes.....but that security is predicated on THE BOX BEING LOCKED!!!

That is going to take an act of Congress. This is one of those things where automation is already in place. They could use some financial guys to look at the pension structure and how it is integrated into the Federal system.

Folks like to think the PO is a bloated mess. And while there is some of that…it is the only federal system that interfaces with the public on a daily basis.

My snail mail doesn’t arrive till 6:30-8:00 in the evening. Seems strange to me that delivery people work that late at night on routes. I’m not at the end of the line either.

Postal carriers are too lazy to deliver mail to your house any more.

Not ours! We have a great relationship with our mail carrier. HQ is another story.

We have a 200' driveway. For a long time, we had a deal, if there were any boxes that wouldn't fit in the mailbox, just drive up and leave everything on a table just inside the man-door for the garage. (Door is unlocked)

In winter, when they had chains or studded tires, we'd sign a waiver at the Post Office to allow them on our driveway and absolve them of any pavement damage.

A couple of years ago, that stopped. HQ in DC says no more waivers. So now, our guy WILL come up if he's not being followed, but they DO have people following them around to make sure they're NOT going up driveways!

So now, he actually hoofs the stuff up the driveway. When it's NOT him, they put the boxes in a bag and leave it by the mailbox out on the road.

We actively TRY to make it easier, and they said NO!

We make sure our guy gets a nice tip every Christmas.

Postal Service “misdirected” three of my mom’s pension checks in the past year.

Pension company acknowledged they were never cashed, but we’re going thru hoops trying to get them reissued.

Unnecessary headaches due to USPS ineptitude.

Yeah, theft is another thing.

Back in the 90s a coworker ordered a credit card that never arrived......but the bills for mysterious purchases on that card sure did.

She got law enforcement involved and they partnered with postal inspectors.

The resulting investigation discovered the letter carrier stole it and went on a spending spree.

Unbelievable

Yes, and that is why Postal USA, FedEx stores, Mail Boxes Etc, Staples and others have been so successful.
I have not visited the post office in a long time.
I have been to two of the previously mentioned places in the last couple weeks.

People that run internet based shipping businesses use all of the above to ship parcels. None use the USPS.

You are lucky. We have a 200’ long driveway with a 20 degree hill. I plow/maintain it religiously.

Our USPS jeep driver will drive up in the summer but never in the winter. Even though they are in a 4WD jeep.
So many times we will find boxes laying in the snow by the mailbox.

On the other hand I have witnessed many times the FedEx driver WALK up my driveway and leave the package by the garage doors. Sometimes even at 8-9pm at night.
