“These ‘portables’ we’re using as classrooms are just temporary. We’ll be building some nice, solid, real classrooms -—with windows, and everything!— really soon!” That was in 1965. I visited that school just last year. The ‘portables’ are still there, in use.

I do view it as a "living document" not because of changing "interpretations", but because the Founding Fathers put into the Constitution a way for us to change the Constitution, which HAS been changed 27 times.
