I’ve adopted 2 kids. Does that make me a failure as a man?
It certainly comes down to curcumstances. Some very good women have had the misfortune of being with poor men, characterwise. However, what is being commented on is the culture of these young women who do not consider that they have a short period to find the best men they can
The messaging for them is that they can be like men and marry men at the time of their own choosing.
Also, these women will give themselves to desirable men, a thousand of them, and then expect the man that is supposed to be their husband to have to earn his right to a wife every step of the way. In many cases, these men were celibate before they married and they are celibate in the marriage once the wife has the number of children she wants.

Being a "beta male" is not equivalent to being a failure.
Also: You don't state whether you adopted the two children of your wife, or if you and your wife simply adopted two children from an agency.
There is a world of difference there.

In the vernacular that we are talking about, the women love the attractive alphas and accept the beta husbands.
She gives everything to the alpha, to try and keep him. However, to the beta, she gives less and expects more. The beta deserves less in her mind.
Keep in mind that we are talking about the hypergamic dating world and not all women are like this. Some women realize that the provider husband deserves everything, but not all women believe this.
